Tyaizia Allen, left, a McGuffey Elementary School student; teacher Paula Cipriano, who is holding Nessa, a small poodle mix whose owners surrendered her to Legacy Dog Rescue after she broke her leg in a fall; veterinarian Dr. John Owen, who performed the delicate surgery to repair the leg; and McGuffey student Rhyan Pegues hold a check for $600 that the school’s leadership team of 15 fifth- and sixth-graders presented to the rescue for Nessa's care. The team raised the money by making and selling Rainbow Bloom bracelets.
