Canfield Village Middle School students recently participated in the Koins for Kids Campaign, which is a charitable campaign to raise money and awareness for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.

The students were asked to bring in any loose change to donate, and to make it interesting, each class that raised $300 or more would be permitted to participate in Holiday Spirit Week Dec. 16-20.

The CVMS grand total raised was $3,282.48, which enabled the fifth- through eighth-graders to participate in spirit week.

Themes for each day of the week included “Merry, Merry Monday,” during which students could wear something which represented their holiday celebration; “‘Twas the Night Before Tuesday,” which was also deemed PJ day, during which students could wear their pajamas to school; “We Thought We Should Show Our School Pride Wednesday,” during which students could dress in their best red and black to show school spirit; “Themed Thursday,” during which students could join some friends and dress up in a holiday theme and, to end the week, “Frightful Friday,” during which students could wear their ugliest holiday sweater.

The money raised will benefit the children and their families who are serviced by Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley.
