Humane agents seize 100 dogs near North Benton

NORTH BENTON

Humane agents with the Mahoning County Animal Charity Society say they have seized more than 100 dogs from a North Johnson Road home.

Agents executed a search warrant at the home about 10:50 a.m. and seized the dogs, most of them puppies which were kept on separate parts of the property and were sold.

Christopher Flak, a humane agent, said the home operated as a puppy mill and the dogs were kept in other quarters and cleaned up for prospective buyers.

He said the owner of the home, Terri Wylie, has been in trouble in the past and faces numerous counts of animal cruelty.

Flak said the dogs will be taken back to Animal Charity to be examined and then housed in numerous kennels across Mahoning County for the time being.
