A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard and Girard:

HUBBARD

Jan. 9

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Princeton Avenue man said he loaned his 1991 Ford truck to a friend who refused to return it.

Jan. 12

Citation: George M. Benson of West Park Avenue, Hubbard, was given a minor-misdemeanor citation charging disorderly conduct after a woman alleged Benson, 39, had followed and harassed her as she walked near state Route 304.

Jan. 14

Theft: A Drummond Avenue woman alleged a 31-year-old family member reactivated her deceased father’s phone account without authorization.

GIRARD

Jan. 12

Criminal mischief: Someone tossed eggs and struck several windows of an East Broadway Avenue home as well as a portion of its siding.

Theft: A temporary tag was removed from a vehicle in the 20 block of East Second Street.

Jan. 13

Theft: A West Howard Street woman reported a $400 Sony PlayStation 3 system and two PlayStation controllers stolen from her home.

Theft: A Shawnee Drive man told police he gave money to another man to perform flooring work but that he failed to do the job to the homeowner’s satisfaction. The accuser also discovered money missing from a bedroom, he reported.

Menacing: A Crumlin Avenue man said he received unwanted text messages, one of which contained a threat of bodily harm.

Jan. 14

Arrest: Leo E. Petrosky, 36, of Shields Road, Boardman, was taken into custody in the 100 block of East Prospect Street and charged with aggravated menacing, aggravated trespassing and criminal mischief after his former girlfriend alleged Petrosky had forced her into a vehicle, then held her at knifepoint. He also stabbed the dashboard, further causing the accuser to fear for her safety, a report said.

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a residence in the 100 block of Hazel Street and removed $100 worth of prescription medications.

Jan. 15

Arrest: Brion D. Pfaff of Royal Mall Drive, Niles, was picked up near Trumbull Avenue on a warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Arson: A manager with Morgan Furniture, 160 Trumbull Ave., arrived to find the building filled with smoke and a smoldering rug in an office, though no additional damage was done to the business or property.
