Nominations being sought for Canfield awards

The Canfield Area Council of the Regional Chamber is accepting nominations for two awards that members will present at the April 4 Good Morning, Canfield program.

The Canfield Business Pride Award was created 10 years ago to honor businesses located within the township or city limits that exemplify ethical, moral and professional standards in their workplace and have visibly contributed to local economic development. Companies are evaluated on business ethics and professionalism, longevity and probability for growth, community outreach, physical plant, investment and commitment to Canfield and respectability as an employer.

Past recipients include Peaberry’s Caf and Bakery, Scarsella Furniture, Edward Jones Investments Financial Advisor/Property Owner Byron Abrigg, Multimedia Farms, Mahoning County Agricultural Society/Canfield Fair, Naffah Hospitality, Inc., Schrodel, Scullin and Bestic, Harley Davidson and Farmers National Bank.

The nomination form may be accessed in the Member Resources/Events section of regionalchamber.com.

The council also will present its fourth Spirit of Canfield Award in 2014. This award is given to an individual and focuses on his or her overall contributions to the city and township, rather than exclusively on business contributions.

The criteria for this award includes community involvement, involvement in the Canfield schools and business accomplishments/promotion of business. The name of the Spirit honoree will be revealed at the breakfast event. Past recipients include former mayor Bill Kay, Jim Duncan and Mark Scheel.

While there isn’t a formal nomination form, the Canfield Area Council welcomes nominations from the public on a deserving individual who is active in the three key areas, with specific information and examples of each.
