Canfield High softball player, Amelia Manenti, was selected as Most Valuable Player during the Queen of Diamonds Showcase North that took place Jan. 4-5 at Kent State University. The event is part of the Queen of Diamond’s Showcase Series, which is one of the largest fastpitch softball college showcases in the U.S. Two-hundred-ninety players were invited from over 2,500 applicants.

Manenti is the starting catcher for the Canfield High School varsity softball team, the reigning 2013 Ohio High School Athletic Association District (OHSAA) and All-American Conference (AAC) champions. This past August, she was a member of the Canfield Baseball Club’s 13-14 year-old Junior League World Series team, which finished third in an international field at Kirkland, Wash.

“This award is the result of the support I have received from my family, teammates and dedicated coaches,” said Manenti.

As a 2013 high school freshman, Manenti has achieved OHSAA All-district and All-American Conference honors.
