Max Morrow earns Eagle Scout award

Max S. Morrow, son of Pat and Cheryl Thompson-Morrow of Boardman, has received his Eagle Scout award, Boy Scouting’s highest honor, at a court-of-honor ceremony, Nov. 24 at Boardman United Methodist Church.

Morrow started his scouting career with Cub Scout Pack 60 in 2002 and received his Arrow of Light Award in 2007. He became a member of Troop 46, a part of the Greater Western Reserve Council, which meets at Boardman United Methodist Church with scoutmaster Eric Grabman, in April 2007. He received his Order of Arrow award in 2008. Morrow has earned 33 merit badges.

Morrow’s Eagle Scout service project included installing a concrete foundation to hold a granite memorial bench in Boardman Cemetery.

The cemetery dates back to 1805, when Elijah Boardman donated the land to be used as a cemetery. Morrow installed a new flagpole with a solar light and landscaped the area with perennial flowers.

Morrow is a senior at Boardman High School, where he is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science Club, Spanish Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Model U.N.

He was a member of the varsity tennis and golf teams and has served as co-captain of the golf team, as well as being a four year member of the classical orchestra, where he plays the violin.

He is also a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and is the treasurer for the Teenage Conservatives, as well as a member of the Order of the Arrow, Wapashui Lodge.
