Opinion: By Earl Tilford The Vindicator Between January 1961 and Nov. 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy
The day the world lost JFK
The murder of President John F. Kennedy in Dallas, Texas, 50 years ago this morning was headline news on our front page and those of virtually every daily in the nation, which published afternoons and evenings at that point in history. The news was arguably the most shocking for America since World War II and became, essentially, a coming-of-age moment for post-war generations. Today and Saturday, The Vindicator takes you back to that and the ensuing days of the tragedy, through remembrances of Valley residents, stories, pictures, videos, a full timeline of events and a special commemorative print edition that includes a review of conflicting theories of the shooting.
