Warren firefighters deal with two blazes
WARREN
The Warren Fire Department responded to two house fires early Friday — both of them in vacant structures.
The first call was at 12:31 a.m. at 1216 Buena Vista Ave. NE, a house that owner Ed Hecker of Cortland was renovating. It had no insurance, and the cause is undetermined.
The two-story home suffered significant damage to the first and second floors, the stairwell was destroyed, and there was $10,000 in damage.
At 4:14 a.m., the department was called to 310 South Leavitt Road near Burnett Street for a two-story house that was badly burning when they arrived. The home was a total loss — $30,000 in damage, said Ken Nussle, Warren fire chief.
Owner of the home is James Duncan.
