Free Thanksgiving dinners for Hubbard shut-ins

Staff report

HUBBARD

The city will give out dinners to homebound senior citizens on Thanksgiving.

Hubbard Township residents are included.

The deadline to order a dinner is Tuesday. Call 330-534-3090 by 4 p.m.

“That’s been a tradition here,” Hubbard Mayor John Darko said Thursday.

Darko said the meals are sponsored by two Hubbard funeral homes — Stewart-Kyle and Kelley-Robb-Cummins.

The Globe restaurant at the Truck World plaza off Interstate 80 will prepare them, and they’ll include all the traditional trimmings.

On Thanksgiving morning, a group of volunteers will meet at Truck World to pick up and deliver the meals, Darko said.

There are 36 deliveries planned so far.
