Nov. 22

12:07 a.m.: Air Force One lands at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth.

12:50 a.m.: President John F. Kennedy and Mrs. Jackie Kennedy arrive at the Hotel Texas and greet crowds inside and outside the hotel. They spend the night in Suite 850.

9:50 a.m.: President Kennedy delivers an impromptu address outside the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth.

10:25 a.m.: President Kennedy delivers a public speech inside the Hotel Texas.

11:40 a.m.: The Presidential motorcade departs the Hotel Texas for Carswell Air Force Base.

12:20 p.m.: Air Force One departs Carswell Air Force Base for the short flight to Dallas.

12:38 p.m.: Air Force One lands at Love Field.

12:52 p.m.: The motorcade departs Love Field Airport, headed for the luncheon at the Dallas Trade Mart.

1:21 p.m.: The presidential limousine turns off Harwood onto Main Street in downtown Dallas.

1:27 p.m.: Large crowds line Main Street in downtown Dallas near the Adolphus Hotel. More than 150,000 people lined the 10-mile motorcade route.

1:30 p.m.: President Kennedy and Gov. Connally are shot in Dallas’ Dealey Plaza.

1:31 p.m.: The presidential limousine races up Stemmons Freeway to Parkland Memorial Hospital.

1:34 p.m.: UPI wire service announcement of shooting is broadcast.

1:36 p.m.: Kennedy arrives at Parkland Hospital.

1:40 p.m.: The CBS network interrupts TV soap opera, “As the World Turns” as Walter Cronkite announces to America that the president has been shot.

1:45 p.m.: Police description of suspect broadcast.

1:50 p.m.: Airplane carrying members of the Cabinet to Japan turns back.

2 p.m.: At the same time Kennedy’s speech at the Trade Mart was scheduled to begin, Parkland Hospital doctors pronounce President Kennedy dead.

2:07 p.m.: News of the shooting causes the New York Stock Exchange to halt trading after an $11 million flood of sell orders.

2:10 p.m.: Police find sniper’s perch at Texas School Book Depository.

2:15 p.m.: Police officer J.D. Tippit killed in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. At the same time Joint Chiefs of Staff place U.S. Global commands on “red alert.”

2:26 p.m.: Lyndon B. Johnson leaves Parkland for Air Force One.

2:30 p.m.: Acting White House press secretary Malcome Kilduff announces that President Kennedy is dead.

2:35 p.m.: Surgery on Gov. John B. Connally begins at Parkland Hospital.

2:50 p.m.: Lee Harvey Oswald arrested at Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff by Dallas police officer M. N. McDonald.

3 p.m.: Parkland Hospital employee, Darryl Tomlinson finds “pristine bullet” on stretcher in hallway.

3:04 p.m.: Kennedy’s body is removed from Parkland by secret service before an autopsy is done.

3:20 p.m.: President Kennedy’s body is loaded aboard Air Force One. Simultaneously, interrogation of Lee Harvey Oswald begins at Dallas Police Headquarters.

3:38 p.m.: Lyndon B. Johnson takes oath of office aboard Air Force One.

3:47 p.m.: Air Force One leaves Dallas for Washington, D.C.

4:15 p.m.: Networks broadcast Lee Harvey Oswald’s arrest.

6 p.m.: Air Force One lands at Andrews Air Force Base.

6:10 p.m.: President Johnson makes his first statement to the nation from Andrews Air Force Base.

8 p.m.: Kennedy’s autopsy is preformed at Bethesda Naval Hospital.

Nov. 22

8:21 a.m.: Oswald rides with Buell Wesley Frazier to work at the Texas School Book Depository, with a package he claims to be curtain rods.

8:56 a.m.: Arrives at work.

1:32 p.m.: Lee Harvey Oswald is stopped and then released by a Dallas policeman in the second floor lunchroom of the Texas School Book Depository.

1:33 p.m.: Lee Harvey Oswald heads down the stairwell and leaves the Texas School Book Depository, traveling east.

1:58 p.m.: Oswald returns to his room at 1026 North Beckley Ave. in Oak Cliff to retrieve his pistol, then leaves minutes later to wait at a bus stop.

2:03 p.m.: A roll call of the Texas School Book Depository’s employees is taken.

2:12 p.m.: Police find empty rifle shells at the sixth floor window of the Texas School Book Depository.

2:15 p.m.: Police officer J.D. Tippit is shot and killed at the corner of 10th Street and Patton Avenue in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas.

2:22 p.m.: A hidden rifle in northwest section of the Texas School Book Depository’s sixth floor is found by J.C. Day, head of the Dallas Police Crime Scene Search Unit who was in charge of examining the rifle evidence at the Texas School Book Depository.

2:50 p.m.: Oswald is arrested after a struggle in the Texas Theatre in Oak Cliff by Dallas police officer M. N. McDonald.

3:20 p.m.: Interrogation of Lee Harvey Oswald begins at Dallas Police Headquarters located in the Municipal Building.

5 p.m.: Dallas police officers interview Oswald’s wife Marina and search her residence in Irving.

5:10 p.m.: Oswald is taken to the first identification line-up.

8:10 p.m.: Lee Harvey Oswald is charged with the murder of Officer J.D. Tippit.

Nov. 23

1 a.m.: A press showing with Oswald takes place in the basement assembly room of Dallas police headquarters. Jack Ruby attends.

1:35 a .m.: Oswald is fingerprinted and photographed by police.

2:30 a.m.: Oswald is charged with murder of President Kennedy.

5 a.m.: Oswald is identified as the owner of the rifle found in the Texas School Book Depository.

Nov. 24

12:21 p.m.: Ruby shoots Oswald in the basement of Dallas police headquarters and is taken into custody.

1 p.m.: Networks report Oswald is critically wounded.

2:07 p.m.: Oswald dies after surgery at Parkland Hospital.
