Coach Kempe is one of the most classy, caring, and passionate individuals I have ever encountered in my life. If you knew the man, you would know everything you just said is incorrect.
I can assure you, the airport is in better shape now than it has been in years, perhaps in over a decade.
And this idea that if you are a conservative you can't support an Airport is absurd. The government's two jobs, in my eyes, should be to provide defense and to build an infrastructure. Airport = Infrastructure and our Airport, like just about every Airport = JOBS!
You would be surprised how many conservatives are supporters of this Airport in our YNGAir Partners initiative... more than you would think ZZ3.
I am not privy to those numbers, but on every ticket purchased with Allegiant or a charter out of this airport, YNG receives $4.50 per ticket for facility upgrades. Most projects that directly affect passengers in airport facilities are paid with that PFC charge. That project may or may not have qualified for that funding, I am not sure.
And just for your information, almost all major commercial airports put that PFC charge on their passenger tickets. It is in no way unique to YNG. It is charged at CAK-CLE-PIT as well.
Dan Dickten is the Director of Aviation for the airport division of the Western Reserve Port Authority.
Rose Ann DeLeon is the Executive Director of the WRPA's economic development division.
They are under the same umbrella, but are two divisions. Dan Dickten runs the airport. Rose Ann DeLeon runs economic development from her office in Youngstown.
Romney/Ryan needs to hammer home ObamaCare to the tens of thousands of Catholic voters around this area.
Remember, a large number of Democrats in the primary chose not to cast a vote for President Obama. Hell the uncontested Coroner and a Clerk of Courts candidates received more votes than the uncontested President.
To our good friend GeorgeJeanie, I present you with some more facts:
-Allegiant Air has been operating out of the YNG Airport since 2006.
-A SCASD grant, similar to this one, was used to attract Allegiant Air to YNG. It was used for marketing, not as a revenue guarantee. Similarly, a SCASD grant was used to bring AirTran to CAK... Just some proof that this program can work.
-After six years of service at YNG, Allegiant has been making at PROFIT at this airport each year. Allegiant is quick to pull out of unprofitable markets. We are making money for them.
-Allegiant has expanded to offer service to Tampa and Myrtle Beach, in addition to the Orlando flights. There is hope for an additional destination in the near future.
For someone so critical of the airport, it is evident you are blinded of the facts in front of you. 10,869 passengers flew out of YNG in July... the most passengers since June 1992.
Continue to criticize the airport all you want, but things are moving in the right direction at YNG thanks to the work of the Director Dan Dickten.
Thanks for your kind words HonestAbe... That is the case for most passengers flying out of YNG!

$780K grant to help lure daily flights to Youngstown-Warren airport
The money is not used until an airline is secured. If YNG cannot get an airline that fits the details of the grant, the Feds keep the money.

$780K grant to help lure daily flights to Youngstown-Warren airport
To zz3, you question the work of the airport in trying to bring airlines to town. Read this grant and try asking that question again.
