People have tried, but your politicians are eating well, your in city businesses have business owners living outside city limits, and your population filled with ideas get cut off from bringing solutions to the table by those with larger mouths and deeper pockets.
Which begs the question:
How much will Youngstown real estate be worth in 10 years and who will have the means to purchase the land and develop it?
The west side was targeted decades ago by city folks whom owned property in the ghetto sides of town. The rampage started when your school officials opened eveything up.
Anyway, Shaffers' mother should kick him out on his behind and live her life in peace. Robert will just have to grow up and poo poo if he dies in the street.
Turning away from God has nothing to do with the fall of our country.
Plenty of parents took their children to church and then out to eat where the children watched their parents gorge themselves on alchohol and later back at the house, the parents used drugs, even if only legalized nicotene.
Parents made friends out of their children and did not care to make responsible youth for our future.
God is of the spirit and people who worship material things have fallen on bad times and now are seemingly turning back to God, their God, without your pitiful and futile help.
Sounds to me like Leo Feher and Jessiedavid have a problem with God.
I'll bet you both have big problems with your personal family as well and yet, here you are preaching to us through a newspaper medium of which you point your fingers at as part of the problem yet use the same "DEVIL" to solve your problems and do YOUR pagan bidding - That of changing peoples lives by interferring in religious beliefs and thoughts that you have no business meddling in.
Yeah, bigots and false prophets are alive and well commenting at vindy.com.
Damnit to hell - Some of you Vindy commentators are not in the holiday spirit.
Now Todd Franko did an excellent job of inviting us into an issue using humorous overtones and all some of you spoiled commentators can do is start an argument over one of the other, "should be banned" commentators passing the celebratory gravy.
Some of you folks should be sitting at the CHILDS table.
Thanks for contributing to this great article, but I wish in the future you wouldn't attempt to make it a racial issue (referring to your video link response).
Ernie Brown stated the problem was with:
"But, as younger people left Youngstown and the economy continued to fail, the Lincoln Knolls neighborhood, like so many others in the city, declined."
Mr. Brown never brought race into this story, why would you?
Additionally, the caption under the video states:
"gospel singer Wintley Phipps... ...says, "A lot of people don't realize that just about all Negro spirituals are written on the black notes of the piano."
Jessiedavid, Your video is not appropriate for posting herein this article, but should have been sent to Mr. Brown personally so as to avoid stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination that such a video link may create.
"On a serious note, there is some evidence within the poll’s breakdown that those with more tend more toward enjoying a day of thanks.
But clearly, when unemployment is at 9 percent and disapproval of Thanksgiving is at 7 percent, even those who are struggling rise to the spirit of the day.
That would indicate that Thanksgiving isn’t all about the stuff we have or the money in our pockets.
It’s about recognizing that we live not only in a land of plenty, but a land that values freedom and that doesn’t rest on its laurels. It is a nation with a tradition of working toward something better."
I thought we were now "On a serious note,..."?
"...that those with more tend more toward enjoying a day of thanks."
That's because they are white collar intelligent workers whom have made intelligent decisions early in life, such as attending and graduating college, especially with good to great grades.
Or they are blue collar, self employed, hard working and successful.
These folks have the spirit of freedom and chances are a little bit of pocket change to spend here and there.
"...even those who are struggling rise to the spirit of the day."
Well, this article indeed must be an op - ed piece. Ask someone working at a national retail chain or a gas station how they feel about the Thanksgiving holiday and these hard working (?) poor choice makers do anything but rise to the spirit of any holiday... or any occasion.

LMAO! Great reply to NilesOhio! Thanks for a GREAT laugh!
You are sooooooo right on the money as to what will happen when the money is sooooooo left off!
Soon, oh so soon will this point of no return be realized by the masses and when it is realized, it will be much too late for the public to help themselves.
Slower than a clock do our changes become events. Faster than a flame from hell will those intelligent enough to notice the decades of a changing clock take the time to prepare.

Here comes the biggest Vindicator of the year
"The only black I will encounter Friday morning will be my coffee and the crispy parts on my hash browns if they’re cooked just right."
Damn straight Mr. Franko, although milk and sugar added will help the wfmj story go down a bit smoother.
New morning hosts anyone???

Another quake hits area near D&L well in Youngstown
@ taxme:
Yes, the 99% are stupid. Very, very stupid. AND they are breeding!
@ congresswatcher:
Right on with your people re-electing the same politicians over and over.
The people apparently ARE sheeple, especially if the vindicator supports the same old same old politicians under a waving banner of stability.
Sad cycle, really.
