Boy Scouts with Troop 22, based at St. Christine Church, help place flags around the neighborhoods of the City of Canfield and Canfield Township with the Rotary Club of Canfield. The club sells memberships for the “Fly the Flag” program as a fundraising project. The money goes to Rotary projects on local and international levels. Above, the Scouts also help Rotarians prepare the flags for display. The task starts with drilling holes into the poles and then attaching the new flags. On Oct. 22, the staff and students at Joseph Badger Elementary School participated in a Pink Ribbon event for breast cancer awareness, organized by Caryn Ewell and Holly Blackburn. Staff, students and parents walked on the track for a half-hour with breast cancer survivors and a parent who is undergoing chemotherapy. Money raised during the mini-relay for life was presented at the Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic at YSU on Oct. 26. SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR Officer George Wallace Jr., board member of the Youngstown Police Association, presented a check to the Boardman Little Spartans 120 Cheer Squad, chosen this year for the donation. The check was presented at the YSU Pink Ribbon Cheer Classic on Oct. 26. YPA was able to donate $1,280 from the Youngstown Police Department breast cancer T-shirt fundraiser.
