Pat Barrett caught a 7-yard TD pass from Zack Bailey with 1:11 left in the third quarter and the Red Dragons blanked Brookfield in the second half to hold on for a 13-9 victory in a high school football game on Friday.

Barrett finished with five catches for 46 yards, including a 2-yard TD pass from Bailey with nine minutes left in the first quarter. Bailey completed 9 of 13 passes for 65 yards, two TDs and an interception.

Bailey also rushed 10 times for 71 yards for Niles (4-2), which held the Warriors to 119 total yards.

Ryan Mosora carried 25 times for 82 yards for Brookfield (5-1), while Brandon Mosora completed 4 of 10 passes for 23 yards and two interceptions. He also made a 21-yard field goal. Brookfield’s touchdown came on a 28-yard interception return by Derek Sulick early in the second quarter.

Howland 41, Beaver Local 7

LISBON

De’Veon Smith carried 15 times for 227 yards and three TDs for Howland (6-0, 2-0 AAC Red), which rolled up 344 yards on the ground.

Eric Lockne completed 5 of 10 passes for 71 yards and a 42-yard TD pass to Matt Hayes for the Tigers, who entered the game ranked third in the Division II, Region 5 computer ratings and fourth in the Associated Press poll.

Justin Osborn caught a 32-yard TD pass from Jared Britt late in the second quarter to lead Beaver Local (1-5, 0-2).

Champion 6, Liberty 0

CHAMPION

Late in the first quarter Michael Cyrus ran for a 3-yard touchdown for the Golden Flashes (2-4, 1-2).

Cyrus finished with 31 carries for 96 yards.

Frank Bond ran seven times for 45 yards for the Leopards (0-6, 0-3).

Lakeview 48, Newton Falls 26

CORTLAND

Zac Sicilian returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage to help spark Lakeview.

Michael Mannella ran 17 times for 164 yards and three TDs for the Bulldogs (2-4), who took a 34-15 lead late in the second quarter. Ryan Scott added 101 yards on 15 carries and a TD. Quarterback Anthony Franco completed 5 of 11 passes for 133 yards and a touchdown and he also ran six times for 60 yards. His main target was Jake Pishotti, who caught two passes for 98 yards, including a 69-yard TD pass.

For Newton Falls (0-6), C.J. Gregory carried 11 times for 70 yards and a touchdown and Matt Brazin added 61 yards on 18 carries. Brazin also completed 13 of 23 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns, including two to Cody Dillon, who caught five passes for 82 yards.

Campbell 31, Ashtabula Edgewood 16

Campbell

Ja’les Hughes carried 14 times for 167 yards and four touchdowns for Campbell (4-2). Hughes scored twice in the first quarter to get the Red Devils on the board, and again in the second and third quarters. Alex Sudacov added a field goal for Campbell.

Josh Lamgaday caught a 17-yard TD pass from Tyler Keen for Ashtabula, and Keen also ran in a score.
