Team Roster 2010
Coach: P.J. Fecko
The 2010 version of the Mooney Cardinals might be a rebuilding year. Or, rather a reloading year. The defending Division III state champions lost 17 starters from last year’s team to graduation. The five returning starters – three on defense and a pair on offense – will need to step up, as senior leadership is expected to be a strength. All five starters are seniors. They are tight ends Nick Gemma and Nick Hargate, and defensive linemen Clarence Scott, Mike Rossi and Chris DeChellis. But a lack of returning starters is an issue, head coach P.J. Fecko said. There are no returning offensive linemen, quarterbacks, running backs, receivers, linebackers or defensive backs. Coming off a state championship run and an undefeated season, the Cardinals already had a target on their backs. But now that there is youth and relative inexperience in the starting lineup, teams will be gunning for them.
Quote:
"Last year was a wonderful season but it has passed. Our guys understands that. The incoming seniors have done a great job on pulling everyone together. Although they lack a lot of experience, they've done a good job of leadership so far."
