Body Identified Bazetta Township
BAZETTA TOWNSHIP — The skeletal remains found along the south end of Mosquito Lake 11 1/2 years ago are those of Gregory L. Griffin, whose last known address was on Willis Avenue in Youngstown. Identity Mystery inline tease photo Video In a cold-case investigation worthy of television, Trumbull officials unveiled an FBI reconstruction of the head of the man whose skeleton was found along the southern edge of Mosquito Lake July 23, 2006. The bones of the black male, thought to be about 50 years old and roughly 5-feet-8-inches (plus or minus 3 inches), were found mostly intact in a marshy, grassy area on the north side of the Mosquito Lake dam along state Route 305. Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, Trumbull County coroner, says he does not know what caused his death but he has ruled it a homicide. Griffin was 47 at the time his body was found. Police were able to submit DNA to a Texas laboratory in February 2017 that came back as a positive match for Griffin about two weeks ago.
