Should public school districts be required to transport parochial students directly to their schools?

Absolutely yes. They are transporting them to a school building, they are not teaching them anything on the bus.

These parents pay taxes to the public school district and are required by law to receive safe and timely transportation of their children.

Ohio job growth doesn’t assure an Obama win

Obama needs to simply come out and support a ban on fracking and he can guarantee himself a loss.

There is no doubt in my mind that a large portion of his supporters are against fracking. He can take credit for natural gas drilling all he wants, but it is Kasich and the GOP that is making sure it is done in a safe and legal manner.

Romney wins OH, FL, IA and clinches with a win in WI, VA, or CO.

Austintown parents panel vows to fight busing plan

300,

When parents pay a considerable portion of their taxes to the Austintown School District, by law, they are entitled to safe and timely transportation of their children to school each day.

This is not a government handout. This is the law.

Austintown parents panel vows to fight busing plan

FattyNSkinny, the law states otherwise. Read up on the 1965 Ohio Fair Bus Law.

Austintown student busing dispute heats up

Blah... keep drinking the Catholic School hating Kool-Aide. Thank God for the Catholic Schools in the Mahoning Valley and the "EXCELLENT" education they provide thousands of students each and every year!

Austintown student busing dispute heats up

JaneyBlue,

Nobody is whining. You are the one that appears to be defending this ridiculous decision. If the parents pay taxes for the public school district, which they do, then they should be able to receive the same busing as the public school district.

When it comes to fiscal policy, Austintown BOE is completely lost. They have ballot issues almost every year for new schools or operating expenses, yet they go ahead and cut busing the way they are doing. They have NO idea how to handle their finances.

I urge ALL Austintown taxpayers to vote NO on any ballot issue for the Austintown School District in the future. Maybe that will teach them a lesson.

Austintown student busing dispute heats up

The Vindy should receive a copy of the "marketing" letter sent to ALL private school parents by the Austintown BOE a few weeks ago asking why they would engage in school choice and not send their children to what they call the 'excellent' Austintown School District.

I believe Ms. Woodford is onto something.

New bus plan to send Austintown kids on WRTA

Go ahead and go after the private school busing as if that is a major problem, yet you say nothing about your schools going in the wrong direction due to your open enrollment policies. Heard some not so impressive stats about a large number of students failing in Fitch this past year from a Fitch graduate at YSU.

Go ahead and screw over the private schools, despite the fact they pay taxes for YOUR public schools and in addition, pay THOUSANDS to send their children to private schools.

You put levy after levy or renewal after renewal on our ballots year in and year out. You can be certain that there will be a vocal group in opposition of ANYTHING you put forth before the voters in the future.

P.S. Hope Mooney absolutely annihilates Fitch in football this year for this and other actions by this school district. Fitch won't play Ursuline because they claim we recruit, last time I checked, the OHSAA nailed Fitch for it and not Ursuline... Look back at their baseball players last year from out of the country.
