YSU faculty vote results expected by 8 p.m.

I am absolutely furious right now. I support SB5, but I would much rather see classes start on Monday than see a strike....

If SB5 passes, which I ultimately expect it to do, then just remember those teachers out their picketing in an economy with 9.1% unemployment.

Will Democrats show up in November?

I will be voting Yes on Issue 2. Like in WI, the silent majority will speak in OH yet again.

Airport name soon to depart?

Thunderboom, YNG does not compete with Erie, they simply do not. Less than 1% of the travelling public from the Mahoning Valley flies into Erie. PIT and CLE are our top two competitors, with CAK coming in at a distant third.

VindyPost nailed it. YNG's past two monthly passenger numbers were the best at YNG since October 1998. Please explain to me how the airport is dead with those statistics backing my opinion up?

YSU president’s mettle tested

Attis, quit spewing your LIES. YSU was ordered by the U.S. Department of Education to NOT disburse funds... Why is that you ask Attis???

"Federal regulations state that federal funds may not be disbursed more than 10 days prior to the start of the semester."

So before you go about posting your lies on the web, know the facts. YSU, since the faculty may strike and delay the start of classes, by law cannot disburse funds until a start-date to classes is set-in-stone. Once one is set, the funds will be disbursed.

Second scrimmage thoughts

Kudos to Nick Shook your 'intern' as well from Akron SVSM. A Kent State student, he has a talented career and needs to follow in your footsteps.

Talk about a good ‘Connection’

TigerLily, you and all the conspirators against the Administration must know what the law states. The law states the following:

"Federal regulations state that federal funds may not be disbursed more than 10 days prior to the start of the semester."
Source: http://www.lehigh.edu/~infao/admitted/f…

Since the OEA may go on strike and delay the start of classes, federal student aid cannot be disbursed until there is an official start date set in stone.

Kudos for Matthew for speaking out against the OEA. They just got 13% raises in the previous recessions on the backs of tuition increases to the students. We cannot afford another sweetheart union deal as we potentially head into another recession.

Boar, the designation would not need to be changed if the airport name were to change. Could it? Yes. Does it have to change? No.

YSU president’s first year posed many challenges

Attis, she also makes less than the average for every college President in Ohio.

And you are completely false on the financial aid statement. Don't spew lies if you don't know the facts. They were informed by the U.S. Dept. of Education that they cannot disburse the funds. If you don't believe it, then ask the OEA because they know it to be true as well. The memo was forwarded onto them, despite their statement immediately after which they doubted the administration's remarks.

Airport name soon to depart?

I personally prefer the Northeast Ohio Regional Airport. The only issue with it may be the fact we draw a number of passengers from Northeast Pennsylvania. Not sure I like the ring of the Ohio-Penn Airport. Mahoning Valley is not regional enough in my eyes. 90% of Americans will have no idea where a Western Reserve Regional Airport is either.

My vote goes with Northeast Ohio Regional Airport.
