Airport survey finds most favor a change of name

Michael, you must have missed the FOUR Vindicator articles in the past six weeks on the survey that you had EVERY OPPORTUNITY to take on yngairpartners.org.

Allegiant plane slides off runway here; passengers stranded

Passengers stranded? This article could use a more appropriate title than that. The article states the passengers were bused back to the terminal.

Remaking downtown Youngstown

NoBS, your anti-Kasich far-left agenda is ridiculous. It has no place in this article.

This is a great project for Youngstown! Very excited to see the building once it is complete.

How would you rate Gov. John Kasich’s first-year performance?

Go back a year and click every jobs link on his twitter page:
http://twitter.com/#!/JohnKasich

NoBS, I don't want to hear your partisan nonsense. I, a conservative, actually supported Strickland in 2006 vs. Blackwell. After two-and-a-half years as our Governor, I knew Strickland was simply not getting the job done. I supported Kasich because he was going to make the necessary changes to make Ohio more-business friendly. I know those three works make Democrats cringe, but those three words CREATE JOBS.

Keep is up Governor Kasich!

I wonder if this poll has hit Plunderblund.com or perhaps the Vindy's left wing hire Kovac.

I'd rate him between good and excellent. He has done more for job growth than the last two governors that is for damn sure, but he went too far with SB5. Give him a few more years and Ohio will be booming!

Daily flights from Youngstown to Cleveland taxi toward 2012 reality

UnionForever, people were saying that about Allegiant coming to town. Well the YNG Facebook reported this yesterday:

"In November, a total of 6,092 passengers enplaned/deplaned at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport. Through November, a total of 64,471 passengers have flown into and out of YNG, the highest mark since 1999! Thank You and remember to FlyYNG!"

Allegiant has proven successful and like I said, we will strive to make this work as well.

Truth, the oil and gas exploration companies are flooding other airports with activity with the Marcellus and Utica Shale. Elmira, Wilkes-Barre, and Williamsport have seen additional service due to the Shale and this will help with travel for those companies as well.

Daily flights from Youngstown to Cleveland taxi toward 2012 reality

Truth, I will be happy to answer your questions on this service.

In regards to the number of individuals/flight. In 1995, Continental ran this route from March - November before pulling the plug due to some "operational" issues at YNG.

Your numbers are off when it comes to number of seats per month. 19 seats x 2 flights day = 38 per weekday. 38 x 5 = 190 + 38 on weekend = 228 seats per week. 228 x 4 weeks = 912 passengers/month, otherwise known as enplanements. Enplanements are what the airlines will look at to see if this route "works" for YNG. The deplanements, passengers coming into YNG, would be individuals connecting from 60+ cities into YNG and should be in the same ballpark range.

In 1995 when this route operated, seats sold ranged from 715-778, or 72%-79% passenger loads. If we saw those numbers in 2012, it would be profitable.

Gulfstream is a codeshare partner of United. This is not some fly-by-night operation that nobody has ever heard of. This is a reputable carrier that flies hundreds of routes each day for United/Continental. Silver Airways is the new name for the "new" Gulfstream which emerged from bankruptcy.

YNGAir Partners, the airport's community support group, will work our tails off to make sure this route is successful. Local travelers have told us that they want daily service and this is a start! Would we rather see service to DC or Chicago, absolutely. However if we make this succeed, we feel that we could see that service down the road in the not too distant future. That is our feeling, not a promise.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer!

Daily airport air service in sight

Dimebag, the service will be to Cleveland and from there you could connect to 60+ United destinations, and yes that includes Parkersburg. It also includes New York, Houston, and out west towards Las Vegas and Los Angeles if that suits your liking a bit more...

Drilling bonanza brings byproducts of skepticism and fear

I can't wait to read the rest of this tomorrow to get my laugh in for the day. The environmental left strikes again with their scare tactics!

Do you believe drilling for natural gas and oil in the Marcellus and Utica shales will add jobs to the Mahoning Valley?

What kind of question is this!? Of course it is going to add jobs to the Mahoning Valley.

V&M is already adding around 400-450. There will be thousands created and it is very exciting!!!
