This photo provided by Christie's auction house shows a life preserver from the ill-fated R.M.S. Titanic found during the initial search for survivors and owned by the same family for 90 years.  Going on the auction block in June, it is the first Titanic life jacket to be offered at auction in the United States, and is one of about six believed to have survived to this day, Christie's said Thursday, May 29, 2008. The century-old canvas jacket, lined with buoyant cork, belonged to Mabel Francatelli, one of 12 passengers to escape from the RMS Titanic in a lifeboat built to fit 40, the London-based auction house said. Her vest _ carrying her faded signature and those of seven other survivors _ was offered for sale along with a letter she wrote describing what happened that night.
