Prince of Peace Center’s annual bowl-a-thon fundraiser “Strike Out Poverty” will take place at noon March 5 at Thornton Hall Bowling Lanes, 1208 Hall Ave., Sharon, Pa. There will be a basket auction, 50-50 raffle and prizes. Teams of up to five bowlers must register by Monday to guarantee a free T-shirt and chance at various prizes. The cost is $30 per person and includes three games, shoe rental and food and drink tickets. To register a team or individual or to be a sponsor, call 724-346-7777, ext. 14, or visit www.princeofpeacecenter.org/events/2017-bowlathon and download the registration form. Return the completed form to the center at 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, Pa. 16121. Sponsors are needed at five levels: gold, silver, bronze, friend and donation. The benefit will support life skills classes and family supportive services programs. Austintown Fitch juniors and members of Fitch Interact Club, Bailee Kingsley, left, and Lexi Cintrol, will participate in the annual Rotary Youth Leadership Award convention Feb. 24 through 26 at Avalon Inn, Warren. They will join leaders and students from more than 40 local schools and will participate in leadership workshops and networking. Kingsley is a three-year letter winner on the Fitch women’s soccer team, and is a member of French Club. She plans to pursue pre-medical studies in college. Cintrol is an honor student, pianist and has danced for 12 years. She works with a toy drive every Christmas, and is considering occupational or speech therapy for her secondary studies. Both students attended the District Interact Conference in November, and were informed of the RYLA opportunity by Interact advisers Tina Kubacki and Gary Reel.

A High Tea Brunch on March 18 will commemorate the 31st annual Trumbull County Women’s History Celebration at the National Packard Museum, 1899 Mahoning Ave. NW. The national theme for the event is “Honoring trailblazing women in labor and business.” Attendants are invited to wear a favorite hat for guest speaker Patty Carver’s presentation “This Old Hat — Women of American History,” a one-woman musical performance. The event also will feature 50-50 and basket raffles. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the program will begin at noon. Tickets are $30 and are available by calling E. Carol Maxwell at 330-360-0901. Proceeds will fund a scholarship for a nontraditional female college student. Committee members preparing from the event, seated from left, are Esther Gartland, chairman, and Maxwell, reservations.
