The event included performnces from the Fitch marching, symphonic, sixth-grade, seventh-grade and eighth-grade bands. Nearly all music played were patriotic songs. The concert sprung from the idea of the marching band perform an indoor concert after football season.

Berlin-Ellsworth Ruritan met for its annual Christmas party Dec. 11 at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. They installed officers for 2018. Lee Fowler will serve as president, Jeff Craig, vice president; Dwain VanAuker, secretary; James Gatto, sergeant-at-arms; and Denny Furman, treasurer. Doug McGlynn, Ken Bennett and Bill Porterfield will serve on the board of directors. Twelve members received awards for perfect attendance: VanAuker, 32 years; Bennett, 26; John Bates, 21; Craig, 15; Furman, 12; Fred Mayorga, seven; Joe Capasso, six; Walt Overly and Fowler, five; Gatto, two; and Brian Devine and Bill Porterfield, one year. Ron Moore Jr. was the guest speaker at the final meeting of the year for the 2017 Austintown Rotary Club. He spoke about his struggle with Parkinson’s disease. Moore is an artist whose work was being affected by the condition. After having an operation at the Cleveland Clinic that involved an implant that sends electrical signals to the brain, he improved enough to return to work. Also in attendance at the meeting was Cheryl Lloyd from Easter Seals, who received a $350 check from the club.
