GFWC Ohio Austintown Junior Women’s League met for its annual Christmas dinner and meeting recently at Rachel’s Restaurant. Members and guests celebrated the holiday with dinner while making plans for an upcoming fundraiser, “The Taste of Austintown.” Members donated unwrapped gifts for Beatitude House and AJWL also contributed two $100 gift cards for needy families in Austintown. Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties recently partnered with Midas of Austintown and Boardman to collect holiday baskets. Midas offered free oil changes to those who donated four non-perishable items. Easter Seals received enough donations to fulfill all requests for family meals throughout the holidays. Warren Republican Women’s Club hosted its annual Christmas celebration on Dec. 1 at the Salvation Army Community Room in Warren. Argus Lodge 545 of Canfield honored David Lavrock on Oct. 28 as Mason of the Year. The award is given to a member who has diligently served the lodge. Lavrock has been a member of the lodge for 21 years and also is a member of the Fellowcraft Team and Tuesday Bunch. He lives in Boardman with his wife, Nancy. They have a daughter, Megan, and one grandchild. Lavrock graduated from Boardman High School and worked at Akron Energy until his retirement. He also serves as captain with the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Civil War Re-enactment group, and enjoys restoring antique cars.
