SPECIAL TO THE VINDICATOR: Nearly 100 area students attended the Rotary District 6650 Interact conference in Salem in November. Interact clubs are community service clubs sponsored by Rotary clubs. The conference allows students to share ideas and learn what each other does to serve his or her community. Schools represented this year were Austintown, Columbiana, Brookfield, East Palestine, Howland, Hubbard, Northwest (Canal Fulton), Salem and Struthers along with exchange students from Argentina, Brazil, France, Hungary, Italy and Spain. He is in his second year as principal of Western Reserve High School (grades six through 12) in Berlin Center. Before this he was the longtime principal of Austintown Fitch High School. Special to The Vindicator: Argus Lodge 545 Free and Accepted Masons in Canfield recently honored Thomas Eaton, right, as Mason of the Year, which recognizes service to the lodge. Eaton has been a member for 33 years and serves as a trustee. Eaton and his wife, Gereldine, live in Canfield and have two sons. He was a quality control technician for 37 years at General Motors in Lordstown and retired in 2001. Mark Roca is at left.

Special to The Vindicator: New officers of the Polish Arts Club of Youngstown, who were installed Nov. 16 at Brier Hill Cultural Center, 145 Jefferson St., Youngstown, are, from left, Alice J. Morrow, treasurer; Stanley Gerchak, vice president; Sandra Cika, president; and Thomas Welsh, secretary. Mary Ann Mlynarski, outgoing president, conducted the installation. The club, founded by educator Florence Turowski with support of industrialist and philanthropist Joseph Butler Jr., will mark its 80th anniversary in 2015.
