Ursuline’s Akise Teague heads downfield during the 2008 Division V regional final against Kirtland. Teague began to emerge for the Irish two years ago as a lightning-quick sophomore who could make plays as a return man and a reserve running back behind then-starter Allen Jones. Now he’s a three-way standout for the state championship favorites in Division V, who will once again face the Hornets in Saturday’s regional final. Kirtland gave Ursuline its toughest test of the 2008 playoff s, nearly pulling off the upset before CB Dale Peterman’s last minute interception return for a TD gave the Irish an 18-17 win. Two weeks later, they won the first of their back-to-back state championships.
