Dr. Dinah Fedyna of Austintown, who has bulbar-onset ALS, uses a tablet to communicate. The condition that affects only 20 percent of ALS patients and is incredibly difficult to diagnose. Her diagnosis came after she monitored her own symptoms for 15 months. At right is her husband Joe Novicky.
