Union Elementary School celebrated Valentine’s Day with an art project on Feb. 9 and classroom parties on Feb. 14.

The PTO helped with both events. The art project ran over the course of a full day with classrooms doing the projects at different times. The classroom parties took the last hour of the school day.

The students’ art project was to design their Valentine’s Day bag that they used for their Valentine’s Day celebration on Feb. 14. The students decorated their bags with stickers, paint, pompoms and tissue paper. The PTO leads these types of projects throughout the school year, such as December’s Christmas decoration project.

The school party brought in parent volunteers to help with the classroom parties. Each class got to have ice cream, which the parents scooped out for them. They also had a set of games for the students to play as well, such as a ring toss game.

The students placed out their bags that they made the week before and each student passed out candy to the rest of the class.

The school has the project and classroom parties each year for the holiday.
