The Poland Bulldogs have strung together back-to-back blowout wins. The most recent addition? A 42-10 victory against Niles on Friday.

“They had a good game plan. (Niles coach Brian Shaner) had those guys fired up and had a good defensive plan. We had to adjust a little bit,” Poland head coach Ryan Williams said about Niles’ defense. “We just had to adjust a few things and make some small tweaks.”

Dante Romano scored from four yards out with in the first quarter. In the second, defensive back Brandon Barringer intercepted Niles quarterback Jordan Soda and took the ball 22 yards for a touchdown. Niles tacked on a field goal midway through the second quarter to trail 14-3.

“They gave us a bend but don’t break kind of defense,” Niles head coach Brian Shaner said. “We saw it on tape. When you get down to the red zone, they clamp down.”

The second half was more of the same as Poland (2-0) continued to add on to its’ lead. Jonah Spencer scored from 32 yards away and Romano scored his second touchdown on a 17-yard rush. He finished the game with a team-best 166 rushing yards on 14 carries.

“Offensively, everyone was on point,” Romano said. “Our offensive line was opening holes for us everywhere. They were doing their job and we were doing ours.”

After an interception on the 17-yard line, Mike Diaz caught a pass from Cole Kosco and also ran for an 83-yard touchdown to encroach upon the running clock.

Niles (0-2) scored its first touchdown when Robbie Savin had a 55-yard touchdown run. Savin ran for 112 carries.
