Even bigger & better: Season 2 of Blitz Live

Staff report

Nothing beats playing high school football. Watching it is probably a close second.

But the next best thing is talking about high school football. The Vindicator again plans to offer Mahoning Valley fans the perfect forum in which to do just that and also follow the action with live score updates.

“Blitz Live” will again be a Friday night staple with co-hosts Sean Ferguson and Greg Gulas again manning the microphones each Friday beginning at 6:30 p.m.

Between them, the “Blitz Live” cohorts have more than 50 years of football love and will fill your Friday nights with game previews, score updates and live on-site updates from reporters at the games.

There were more than 50,000 views of “Blitz Live” during the 2016 regular season as the show made its debut live from the corner of Front Street and Vindicator Square in downtown Youngstown.

“I am thrilled to see the impact of ‘Blitz Live’ last year and look forward to this upcoming season,” Ferguson said.

“From live viewers to social media interaction, it is a blast to provide great insight and constant scoring updates to the hungry football fans in the Valley.”

Every Friday night, tune in from 6:30-10:00 p.m. for live scores, stadium updates and colorful insight from our in-studio Valley pros. If you’re at a stadium or out of town, you’ll want to plug into “Blitz Live” at vindy.com.

“We had a fun time bringing up-to-the-minute scores and breaking news your way last year, and I am hoping that we can add a few new wrinkles to our show this year,” Gulas said.

“Look for more in-studio guests and live reports, but the best part is that when you are at a game, call, text or tweet us and become a part of the program. It’s the one time over the course of a week that high schools take center stage and the players and coaches are the primary focus of what is happening football-wise in the entire Mahoning Valley.”

Whether you’re at a stadium watching your home team or you’re in a dorm room in Columbus, “Blitz Live” has you covered all night as the action plays out.

If you are a Valley football fan and you have not bumped into “Blitz Live,” look for it every Friday at 6:30 — anywhere you are on the planet.

In addition to Ferguson and Gulas, expect Vindicator Sports Editor Ed Puskas and other members of the sports team to appear regularly on the broadcast.

Coaches, players and other special guests are also in the works.

Listeners can get in on the live action by calling “Blitz Live” at 330-333–5026 each Friday night.
