Warren JFK finishes 2nd in poll

Three Mahoning Valley high school football teams finished in the top 10 of their divisions in the final Associated Press poll of Ohio’s top teams.

Warren JFK (9-1) finished highest of the area schools, tying for second place with Mogadore (9-1) in Division VII. The Eagles received two first-place votes.

Poland (9-1) placed 10th in Division III and Crestview (8-2) finished 10th in Division V.

Eight other Valley teams were mentioned in the poll. In Division III, Canfield finished in 14th place. In Division V, LaBrae was fifth.

Four Division VI teams were mentioned: Columbiana (12th), Lisbon (13th), Western Reserve (16th) and Brookfield (17th).

In Division VII, Jackson-Milton and Mathews tied for 13th.

Tickets

Canfield, Poland and Western Reserve are selling tickets in advance for their playoff games this weekend.

Tickets for Friday’s Canfield/Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary game will be sold today from noon-5 p.m. and Wednesday-through-Friday from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

Poland will sell tickets for Friday’s home game against Louisville beginning Wednesday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. in the athletic office. Tickets also may be purchased at Trolio’s T-Shirts from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Advance price for the Canfield and Poland games is $8. Gate price will be $9.

Western Reserve will begin selling tickets for Saturday’s game at Kirtland on Wednesday. Hours through Friday are 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. in the high school office. Hours for purchasing at the athletic director’s office are Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. and Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
