Harding’s Provitt commits to Kentucky
Staff report
Warren Harding senior defensive tackle Javon Provitt verbally committed to play football at Kentucky on Sunday.
“I’m looking forward to getting started there,” he said in a text message.
Provitt (6-3, 305) will play for Cardinal Mooney High graduate Mark Stoops.
He’s the second area senior in Kentucky’s recruiting class; Mooney linebacker Jordan Jones enrolled this spring at UK after graduating early.
He’s also the second Harding senior to earn a Division I scholarship. Raiders offensive lineman James Daniels committed earlier to Iowa.
Amill to Lafayette
Cardinal Mooney senior C.J. Amill has verbally committed to Lafayette of the FCS Patriot League, according to ScoutingOhio.com.
Amill (5-9, 165) was a first-team all-district running back and third-team All-Ohioan last fall for the Cardinals (6-5), who lost to eventual state champion Cleveland Benedictine in the second round of the Division IV playoffs. He ran for more than 700 yards this season.
YSU adds safety
Lakewood St. Edward senior safety Kyle Hegedus has verbally committed to Youngstown State.
“Proud to announce that I will be furthering my education and my football career at Youngstown State University,” he wrote on his Twitter account.
Hegedus (5-11, 175) earned second team all-district for the Eagles (13-2), who won the Division I state championship. He is also an All-Ohio baseball player.
