HUBBARD

Quarterback Cam Ingram ran for a touchdown and passed for another while running back George Hill ran for 128 yards and a touchdown for the Eagles at Hubbard Memorial Stadiun.

Hubbard spotted Norwayne a 13-0 second-quarter lead. The Bobcats led 13-7 at halftime, 16-14 after three quarters and 19-14 midway through the fourth quarter.

Hill’s 8-yard touchdown run with 6:29 to play gave the Eagles the lead for good. The senior, who has made a verbal commitment to Ohio State, ran 13 times for 128 yards and caught one pass for a 2-yard gain.

The Eagles trailed 13-0 after quarterback Elmer Zollinger threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Zach Steiner and Jeremy Miller ran 35 yards for a score in a span of 90 seconds early in the second quarter.

Ingram’s 19-yard touchdown run made it 13-7 at the 7:53 mark of the second quarter. After Gurdcky’s 25-yard kick gave Norwayne a 16-7 lead midway through the third, Ingra threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Jack Korenyi-Both to get Hubbard within two, 16-14, with 2:56 to play in the third.

Gurdcky’s second field goal made it 19-14 with 9:11 to play in the game.

Hill’s touchdown run came less than three minutes later and the Eagles made a two-point conversion on a pass from Ingram to Brett Lopuchovsky.

Mentor 38, Boardman 7

MENTOR

Koby Adu-Poku carried 35 times for 169 yards and a touchdown for Boardman, which had two costly turnovers.

Down 10-0 in the second quarter, the Spartans fumbled going into the end zone at the 1-yard-line. Then, after cutting the deficit to 17-7 in the third, the Spartans intercepted a Mentor pass at the Cardinals’ 31, only to throw an interception of their own on the next play.

Tadas Taturnas completed 19 of 24 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for a score for Mentor. Jason Blizzard caught 11 passes for 212 yards and two TDs.

Hudson 30, Austintown Fitch 8

AUSTINTOWN

Carlos Herriott caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Ben Nishimura for Fitch, which fell behind 16-0 and never recovered.

Major Lee rushed twice for 34 yards for the Falcons and Nishimura threw for 58 yards.

Louisville 40, Canfield 14

LOUISVILLE

Jared Clark rushed 15 times for 67 yards and a touchdown and C.J. Frost added 59 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown to lead Canfield, which fell behind 26-7 at halftime.

Jacob Adams completed 18 of 21 passes for 298 yards and four TDs. Tyler Adams caught eight passes for 147 yards and two TDs.

Howland 49, Akron Kenmore 0

HOWLAND

Tyriq Ellis rushed nine times for 113 yards and three touchdowns to lead Howland, which led 42-0 at halftime. Victor Williams added a pair of punt returns for touchdowns, one for 53 and another for 58, and Jake Lester threw for 172 yards and a 33-yard TD to Keith Rounds.

McDonald 21, East Palestine 0

McDONALD

Jake Reckard carried 16 times for 104 yards and a touchdown and Michael Zarbaugh added 56 yards on nine carries and caught a 35-yard TD pass from Ben Carkido to lead McDonald, which forced four turnovers. Joe Perry added a 13-yard TD run. Carkido finished with 68 yards passing, including two passes to Reckard for 27 yards.

Josh Pickett rushed for 41 yards on 14 carries for the Bulldogs,

Salem 54, Mineral Ridge 7

SALEM

Matt Weingart completed 8 of 9 passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns and Salem rolled up a 48-0 lead at halftime. Jake Humeniuk caught three passes for 76 yards and a touchdown and Kade Byland rushed 10 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Jarred Miller caught two passes for 53 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown from Mac White, to lead Mineral Ridge.

Crestview 45, Beaver Local 14

COLUMBIANA

Zach Hicks rushed 18 times for 134 yards and three TDs for Crestview, which jumped out to a 38-7 halftime lead. Spencer DeSalvo added 101 yards rushing and a TD and Tyler Stratton had 101 yards and two TDs for the Rebels. Dustin Martsoff ran four times for 97 yards and a TD for the Beavers.

Jackson-Milton 28, Southington 0

NORTH JACKSON

Noah Laster returned the opening kickoff 90 yards to launch the Bluejays’ season. Laster also caught a 42-yard pass from Zakary Lane.

Lane, who completed 6-of-9 passes, also threw a 36-yard score to Joey Burnside, who rushed for 193 yards on 19 carries including a 37-yard touchdown run.

Champion 28, Waterloo 7

CHAMPION

Bailey Slyk carried seven times for 93 yards and a touchdown to lead Champion, which led 21-0 at halftime.

Nate Stahlman carried 13 times for 81 yards and two TDs and Eric Fenstermaker added a 2-yard TD run.

United 30, Malvern 0

HANOVERTON

Colton Antram rushed 13 times for 137 yards and two TDs for United, with help from Colton Bowen, who rushed 12 times for 94 yards, and Tyler Powers, who rushed eight times for 89 yards to lead the Golden Eagles to a victory over Malvern.

Windham 34, Sebring 12

WINDHAM

Sebring struck first in the first quarter with a touchdown by N. Martin, leading Windham 6-0, but was not able to regain the lead for the duration of the game. Sebring’s leading receiver was Josh Zmuda, who caught 3 passes for 37 yards, and their leading rusher was Martin, who rushed for 97 yards.

Warren Harding 35, East Cleveland Shaw 0

WARREN

Lynn Bowden rushed for 129 yards, with help from Keemari Murry who rushed for 74 yards; the two scored three out of the five touchdowns for Harding, who lead 35-0 at the half. Marlin Richardson and Isaiah Wells tacked on the other two touchdowns to lead the Raiders.

Mathews 61, Ashtabula St. John 8

GENEVA

Bryan Leipply rushed 16 times for 147 and two touchdowns to lead Mathews, which held a 461-83 edge in total yardage. Daniel Canter added 56 yards on nine carries with two more touchdowns.

Crestwood 47, West Branch 12

MANTUA

Austin Smith returned a fumble recovery 23 yards for the Warriors’ first touchdown, cutting the Red Devils’ lead to 14-6 at halftime.

Justin Stowe scored from the 7 for West Branch’s other score. Stowe rushed 10 times for 59 yards.
