Hubbard (5-0, 1-0 AAC), coming off a 54-28 road win over previously unbeaten Poland (4-1, 0-1), earned 14 first-place votes and earned 232 points to outdistance second-place Clyde (5-0), which had five first-place votes and 215 points. Hubbard hosts Niles on Friday night.
Poland was 12th in this week’s poll. The Bulldogs host AAC rival Howland on Friday.
Western Reserve (5-0, 2-0 Inter Tri-County League, Tier Two) was the only other Mahoning Valley team to get a first-place vote in the poll. The Blue Devils, who host unbeaten rival McDonald on Friday night, were third in Division VII with one first-place vote and 194 points.
Western Reserve trailed only state power Maria Stein Marion Local (5-0) and Glouster Trimble (5-0). The Blue Devils lost to Trimble in a state semifinal last year.
