Girard 45, Newton Falls 9

NEWTON FALLS

The Indians (4-1, 2-0 All-American Conference, National Division) broke open a close game with four second-quarter touchdowns, two of them runs by Jacob Ryser. The Girard running back finished with 126 yards and three scores on 19 carries. His TD runs covered 10 yards in the first quarter and 35 and 5 yards in the second. Indians wide receiver Chaston Williams caught TD passes of 44 and 26 yards from quarterback Christian Bello. The Indians also scored on a fumble return and an interception return by Kyle Harris. Girard intercepted five Newton Falls passes and recovered two fumbles by the Tigers (1-4, 0-2).

Canfield 49, Sidney 28

CANFIELD

The Cardinals (2-3) used four second-quarter touchdown runs to seize control and finished with 509 rushing yards in a non-conference victory at Bob Dove Field. Jake Cummings and Luke Whittenberger each ran for two TDs. Whittenger had 174 yards on 11 carries, including TDs of 5 and 60 yards. Cummings had TD runs of 15 yards and 1 yard. C.J. Frost ran for 109 yards on just five carries, including a 58-yard sprint and a 40-yard TD run. Andrew Halloff returned an interception 35 yards for a TD for the Cardinals. Eric Barnes ran for 132 yards, including a 42-yard TD, for Sidney (2-3).

West Branch 30, Canton South 14

BELOIT

Four different Warriors scored touchdowns and West Branch shut out Canton South in the second half in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference victory. Corey Snyder ran for an 8-yard TD and threw scoring passes of 4 yards to Austin R. Smith and 29 yards to Bryce Butcher for the Warriors (2-3, 1-1). Mason Hughes added a 3-yard run for West Branch. The Warriors forced three turnovers, including fumble recoveries by Jerian Thomas and Trae Hillyer and an interception by Nick Zinni. Aaron Mohr led West Branch with 10 tackles and John Yoho had eight. Canton South is now 0-5 overall and 0-2 in the NBC.

Alliance 41, Salem 19

SALEM

Salem outscored Alliance 19-13 in the third quarter but could not overcome a 21-0 halftime deficit. Matt Weingart passed for 157 yards including 118 yards on seven completions to Jake Humeniuk. Two of those completions went for touchdowns for the Quakers (2-3, 0-2 NBC). Alliance (3-2, 1-1) rushed for 307 yards and passed for 160.

Howland 30, Toledo Bowsher 6

HOWLAND

Howland rushed for 331 yards and held Toledo Bowsher (1-4) to negative 19 yards on the ground. The Tigers (4-1) got 126 yards from Jaquore Marrs, 95 from Tyriq Ellis and 77 from Victor Williams. Marrs scored on a punt return and short run, Ellis had a short scoring run and Williams hit Tommy Carnifax for a 45-yard touchdown.

Jefferson 41, Campbell 6

JEFFERSON

Aaron Jackson’s 109 yards rushing was a bright spot for Campbell in the loss to the undefeated Falcons (5-0, 2-0 AAC National). Zion Williams added 70 yards passing and a short touchdown run for the Red Devils (0-5, 0-2).

Lowellville 48, Southern 3

SALINEVILLE

Alex Harklerode ran for five touchdowns and 156 yards on just 11 carries as the Rockets (3-2, 2-0 ITCL Tier 2) rolled over Southern (1-4, 1-1). Harklerode also completed the only pass he attempted for 33 yards to Van Vanover. The Lowellville defense held the Indians to 99 total yards.

Brookfield 45, Warren JFK 7

BROOKFIELD

Nate Morrison ran 11 times for 91 yards and two touchdowns and also caught a touchdown for the Warriors (3-2). Augustus Necastro completed 13 of 15 passes for 216 yards and three TDs and also ran for a touchdown. Micheal Roscoe ran for 53 yards and a touchdown and threw for 89 to lead the Eagles (1-4).

McDonald 49, Sebring 7

SEBRING

McDonald use the running game to pour it on early and often Friday night. Jake Reckard finished with 81 yards rushing and two touchdowns (one pass, one rush). Cameron Ifft added 67 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Blue Devils (5-0).

Lisbon 49, East Palestine 40

LISBON

Jason Thompson ran 12 times for 178 yards and a TD, Frankie Morrel ran for three TDs and Josh Liberati completed 9 of 15 passes for 113 yards and two touchdowns to lead Lisbon (4-1, 1-1 ITCL Tier One), which led just 37-34 before scoring two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take control. Nick Monteleone ran for two TDs and caught 10 passes for 130 yards and two more touchdowns to lead EP (1-4, 0-2). Luke Cope ran for 127 yards and a touchdown and threw for 255 yards and two TDs.

Lakeview 28, Champion 0

CORTLAND

Michael Mannella ran for 126 yards on 18 carries to lead the Bulldogs Friday night. The Lakeview defense held the Flashes to 108 of total offense. In the third quarter, Andrew Groves added two touchdowns, including a punt return. The Bulldogs move to 3-2 and the Flashes fall to 0-5.

Canton Central Catholic 35, Youngstown East 2

CANTON

Jake Boccuti completed 10 of 18 passes for 211 yards and three TDs and Justin Ditty ran 10 times for 101 yards and a TD for Central (5-0), which is ranked second in the state in Division V. Bobby Jefferson III ran for 50 yards and threw for 52 to lead East (1-4), while Jawalen Shaw added 15 carries for 65 yards.

St. Thomas Aquinas 42, Youngstown Christian 0

LOUISVILLE

Ryan Houston passed for 147 yards on 12-of-23 passing but Youngstown Christian (0-5) was unable to score. St. Thomas Aquinas (4-1) had 383 yards rushing.

Lucas 65, Mathews 35

LUCAS

Mathews gained 366 yards on the ground on 58 carries but gave up 490 yards on 37 tries to Lucas (3-2). The Cubs scored 22 points in the last three minutes of the first quarter to take a lead they never relinquished. Cobie Pratt gained 181 yards and Bryan Leipply added 152 for the Mustangs (2-3).

Newbury 48, Southington 41

SOUTHINGTON

The Wildcats (1-4, 1-2 NAC) rallied from a 34-19 deficit in the third quarter to take a 41-35 lead with 3:49 remaining. However, Newbury (2-3, 1-3) scored two touchdowns in the final 1:11 to win the game. Cody Helmuth ran for 211 yards and Zack Weaver added 108 for Southington. Justin Len added 74 yards receiving including a 40-yard touchdown pass from Travis Lehman in the fourth quarter.

Western Reserve 56, Mineral Ridge 18

MINERAL RIDGE

The Blue Devils (5-0, 2-0 ITCL, Tier Two) won big to remain unbeaten. No details were reported. The Rams fell to 1-4 and 0-2.

Wellsville 40, Leetonia 18

LEETONIA

The Tigers (3-2, 1-1 ITCL, Tier Two) defeated the Bears. No details were reported. Leetonia fell to 1-4 and 0-2.
