Shaw powers East over Lakeside

Jawalan Shaw had 174 yards on nine carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the East football team to a 36-21 victory over Ashtabula Lakeside on Thursday night.

The Panthers held the Dragons to seven points in the second half.

After Lakeside scored in the third quarter, Shaw broke his first TD run for 61 yards.

The Panthers scored again, with Brandon Jackson finding Isaish Nuckles for an 80-yard TD.

Shaw broke another long run, this time for 86 yards and putting the game out of reach.

The Panthers struck first with Jackson hitting Nuckles for a 58-yard score. The Panthers missed the PAT.

In the second quarter, Lakeside answered with two touchdowns of its own. Josh Gibson hit Robert Walker from four yards away and then Ryan Faulkerson recovered a fumble in the end zone.

The Panthers answered with a touchdown with Jackson finding Marquoise Girleu from 19-yards away.

Lakeside did score in the fourth quarter but it was not enough for a comeback.

Jackson was 5 of 19 for 184 yards and three TDs. Curtis Cooper had 75 yards on four rushes and Nuckles had two catches for 138 yards.

The Panthers had 229 yards on the ground and 412 total yards.
