Boardman

Austintown Fitch High quarterback Antwan Harris accounted for all four touchdowns in Friday’s Falcons’ 27-0 shutout over Boardman.

Harris got Fitch on the board early in the first on his 9-yard touchdown run. He followed that with a 19-yarder in the second quarter.

With Fitch (5-0) ahead 13-0 in the fourth quarter, he snuck into the end zone from 2 yards out, then hit Joey Harrington with a 27-yard pass with 4:20 remaining.

The Falcons’ defense held Boardman (0-5) to 107 yards, recovered five Spartans’ fumbles and intercepted Boardman quarterback Marcus Smith once.

Can. Cent. Cath 50, East 24

YOUNGSTOWN

The Panthers (1-4) fell behind 28-0 and weren’t able to get back into the game.

Bobby Jefferson threw touchdown passes to Isaiah Nuckles and Jawalen Shaw and Dalone Brown ran 56 yards for a touchdown for East.

Central Catholic (2-3) got four TD runs from Brandon Loader.

Howland 7, Toledo Bowsher 6

HOWLAND

Jaquore Marrs tied the game with a 10-yard touchdown run with 6:11 to play. Jacob Lowe’s extra-point kick was the difference as the Tigers (3-2) beat the Rebels at Richard Lombardo Stadium.

Bowsher (3-2) drove deep into Howland territory on a final possession, but its 24-yard field goal attempt was blocked with 19 seconds to play.

Marrs ran for 135 yards on 24 carries. Khan Collins ran for 103 yards on 23 attempts for the Rebels, Mark Washington added 79 on 14 carries and Steve Johnson ran for 58 yards, including a 2-yard TD, on 13 attempts.

Niles 48, Beaver Local 7

LISBON

Kyle Paden threw four touchdown passes, two to Marcus Hill in the first quarter, to lead the Red Dragons over the Beavers (2-3).

Ahead 14-0 after connecting with Hill on an 8-yarder and a 5-yarder, Paden found Justin Lopes for an 18-yard strike to give Niles (3-2, 0-1 All-American Conference American Division) a 21-0 lead at halftime.

Dustin Marstoff’s 1-yard run cut the Beavers’ deficit to 14 less than a minute into the third quarter.

After a John Cicero touchdown run, Niles defender Chris Parry stepped in front of a Beavers pass and returned it 34 yards for a score.

Niles piled up 414 total yards and allowed only 101 from Beaver Local.

Lakeview 42, Girard 35

Sophomore quarterback Angelo Marino engineered three fourth-quarter touchdown drives and the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-0 AAC National) scored 21 unanswered points for a big victory.

Marino tied the game on a 1-yard sneak with 5:25 remaining then scored the game-winner on a 15-yard run with about three minutes remaining.

Both teams combined to score 42 points in a wild second quarter.

For Girard (2-3, 1-1), James Cupan ran for 132 yards and scored four touchdowns.

Nick Cardiero threw for 341 yards and the Indians had two 100-yard receivers.

LaBrae 31, Campbell 28

LEAVITTSBURG

Justin Jenkins threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Marcel Richardson with 1:51 to play as the Vikings (3-2, 2-1 AAC National) came from behind to beat the Red Devils.

The two earlier connected on a 15-yard TD in the second quarter.

Campbell Memorial quarterback Stephan Elash passed for 227 yards and touchdowns of 20 and 30 yards, both to D.J. Harrison.

Adrien Brown scored on a fumble recovery and a 9-yard run for the Red Devils (1-4, 1-1).

Jenkins passed for 191 yards and ran 32 yards for a TD.

Champion 56, Newton Falls 8

NEWTON FALLS

Brandon McFarland ran for 181 yards and five touchdowns and Mike Cyrus added 101 yards for the Golden Flashes (3-2, 1-1 AAC National).

Champion gained 332 yards on the ground and held the Tigers (1-4, 0-2) to minus 6 yards on the ground.

Brandon Fuller passed for 209 yards and Newton Falls’ only score, a 30-yard connection to Derek Walton who had nine catches for 115 yards.

Liberty 16, Jefferson 14

JEFFERSON

Lynn Bowden scored on a 5-yard run and returned a kick 80 yards for the Leopards (3-2, 2-0 AAC National).

Bowden rushed 24 times for 193 yards. Asim Pleas scored one conversion on a run and hit Danny Markulin with a pass for the other.

For the Falcons (1-4, 0-3), Joe Baitt blocked a field-goal attempt and returned it 85 yards for a touchdown. Lucas Hitchcock hit Derek Parker with a 35-yard touchdown.

South Range 56, East Palestine 6

There would be no letdown for the Raiders (5-0, 2-0 Inter Tri-County League Tier One) after their big win over Crestview last week. Joe Alessi followed his five-touchdown performance with two more scores and 135 yards.

The Raiders’ defense held the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-2) to 158 yards. Alessi started the onslaught with a 28-yard run in the first quarter and gave the Raiders a 21-0 lead with a 69-yard run early in the second.

Crestview 48, Lisbon 14

LISBON

Josh McDade scored four touchdowns for the Rebels (4-1, 1-1 ITCL Tier One). Two of his scores were receptions from Collin Gilbert covering 32 and 5 yards. He also ran for scores covering 2 and 6 yards.

Gilbert completed 8-of-13 passes for 106 yards and rushed for 39. Trevor Cope rushed seven times for 119 yards as the Rebels jumped out to a 35-0 lead.

For Lisbon (2-3, 1-1), Brandon Barnes rushed for 143 yards on 26 carries, Jason Thompson returned a kickoff 78 yards for a score and Josh Craig caught an 11-yard pass from Josh Liberati for a touchdown.

Springfield 28, United 14

Ryan Kohler rushed for 247 yards and two touchdowns as the Tigers (4-1, 2-0 ITCL Tier One) carried a 21-0 first-half lead to a key conference road win.

Ahead 14-0 in the first half, Koehler broke a 37-yard run to put the Tigers ahead 21-0 before halftime, then sealed the win with a 66-yarder with 5:34 to go in the fourth quarter.

For the Golden Eagles (2-3, 1-1), Austin Thomas caught two fourth-quarter touchdown passes from Garrett Beach, at 30 and 47 yards.

Columbiana 36, Southern 6

SALINEVILLE

The Clippers (1-4, 1-1 ITCL Tier One) rushed for 357 on 36 carries. Mitch Davidson and John Cramer each ran for more than 130 and combined for three touchdowns.

Davidson also threw for 151 yards and a touchdown.

The Indians (1-4, 0-2) didn’t help their cause at all by fumbling twice on offense.

Robert Ciccone’s 21-yard touchdown run with 1:10 remaining sealed the Rockets’ road win over the Bears in a key ITCL Tier Two matchup. The Rockets (4-1, 2-0) scored 14 second-quarter points coming on Ciccone’s 1-yard run and Jesse Terwilliger’s 3-yarder.

Miscues plagued the Bears (2-3, 0-2) as they were intercepted twice, missed one extra point and failed to convert a two-point conversion to tie the game after Zack Van Giesen’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter.

Mineral Ridge 34, Sebring 14

Mike Eaton set the tone by returning the opening kickoff 75 yards for a touchdowb for the Rams (4-1, 1-1 ITCL Tier Two).

Jon Baker threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Corey Phillips and scored on an 18-yard run. He completed 7-of-14 passes for 122 yards.

Josh Goss rushed for 112 yards on 11 carries including a 15-yard touchdown.

Nick Ferguson scored the other touchdown on a 1-yard run.

For the Trojans (2-3, 0-2), Branton Alex returned a kick 94 yards and Dylan Mick had a 55-yard pick-six.

Wellsville 68, Jackson-Milton 35

WELLSVILLE

After Jackson-Milton (2-3, 0-2 ITCL Tier 2) broke a 28-28 halftime tie on Jeremy Fitzpatrick’s third TD pass of the game to Thomas Gatewood, Wellsville (5-0, 2-0) scored the last 40 points of the game.

The Tigers held a 395-59 yard edge on the ground with Brendon Carr (115) and Zack Mellott (103) topping the century mark.

Fitzpatrick passed for 212 yards for the Bluejays and Gatewood had nine catches for 120 yards.

Warren Harding 43, Warrensville Hgts. 0

WARREN

The Raiders ran for 413 yards, including 147 by Keemari Murry and 119 by Kane Murray, in winning a Lake Erie League rout at Mollenkopf Stadium.

Murry ran for touchdowns of 12 and 47 yards and Kalen Simpson ran for two scores and 76 yards.

Murray and John Coleman each ran for an 8-yard TD for Harding (3-2, 2-0). Harding overcame 108 yards in penalties.

Lucas 35, Mathews 13

VIENNA

Francis Mayberry ran for 290 yards and three touchdowns and Joe Stevenson added 84 yards and two scores as Lucas (2-3) steamrolled the Mustangs behind 430 rushing yards.

Mayberry ran for TDs of 28, 15 and 54 yards and Stevenson had TDs of 40 and 5 yards.

Austin Arnal ran for 81 yards, including a 20-yard TD, on 17 carries for Mathews (3-2).

Cobie Pratt threw an 8-yard TD pass to Wyatt Ford for the Mustangs’ other score.

Canton South 49, West Branch 27

CANTON

D.J. Wilson scored touchdowns on a 61-yard run and 61-reception from John Lyon for Canton South (4-1, 1-1 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).

Ian Sheridan scored two touchdowns while Kahlil Coleman, Matt Shaffer and David Bates scored the others.

For the Warriors (0-5, 0-2), Mason Hughes, Kip DeShields, Austin Smith and Logan Nagy scored touchdowns. Nagy rushed 39 times for 186 yards.

Alliance 60, Salem 41

ALLIANCE

Sophomore quarterback Matthew Weingart threw for 361 yards and five touchdowns but it was far from enough for the Quakers (2-3, 0-2 NBC).

Alliance (3-2, 1-1) quarterback Kordelle Phillips connected on seven scoring passes, totaled 436 yards through the air and ran for 149 yards and a touchdown. Salem got 103 yards on the ground from Haedan Panezott and eight catches for 209 yards from Dan Rumsey.
