Fitch, Hubbard earn 3rd victories

AUSTINTOWN
Fitch quarterback Antwan Harris ran 22 times for 262 yards and four touchdowns on Friday to lead the Fitch High football team to a 28-14 victory over Brunswick.
Harris also threw for 73 yards and the Falcons (3-0) dominated time of possession (29:34-18:26). Fitch’s defense had nine tackles for loss, including seven sacks, and forced two turnovers.
Hubbard 59, John Marshall 6

Without the services of leading rusher L.J. Scott, Hubbard (3-0) was still able to light up the scoreboard against Cleveland John Marshall (0-3). George Hill rushed for 113 yards and two touchdowns and Brennan Wassil completed 8 of 11 passes for 176 yards and three touchdowns for the Eagles. Darnell Tate was on the receiving end of all three of Wassil’s touchdowns, as he caught five passes for 104 yards.

In a back-and-forth game, Crestview (3-0) came out on top thanks to a defensive stand late in the fourth quarter. Collin Gilbert led the Rebels with 17 carries for 132 yards and two scores while passing for 118 yards and a touchdown. They also got 120 yards on the ground from Trevor Cope. For Liberty (1-2), Asim Pleas led the way completing 7 of 11 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 83 yards and two scores. Freshman tailback Lynn Bowden rushed for 95 yards for the Leopards.

Jacob Rasey carried 21 times for 159 yards and four touchdowns, leading three Golden Flashes who topped 100 yards rushing. Brandon McFarland ran 19 times for 112 yards and two TDs and Mason Brown added 103 yards on nine carries with a TD as Champion (2-1) rolled up 410 yards rushing.

Struthers
Nick Pollifrone ran for two touchdowns and Struthers (3-0) rolled up 294 yards on the ground to rout Field. Tyler Chaney added an 86-yard touchdown run and Brett Nemeth and Michael Sullivan also ran for scores. Gary Muntean threw for 132 yards, including a 34-yard TD pass to Temeko Holness.

Norton (2-1) returned two Brandon Fuller interceptions for touchdowns as they built a 34-0 lead and held the Tigers to -5 yards rushing in a convincing road win. Newton Falls (1-2) did not find the end zone until the final minutes when Derek Walton scored to avoid the shutout.

The Vikings (2-1), paced by Jamal Dawkins’ two touchdowns, scored 21 second-quarter points and held on to get a home win over Pymatuning Valley (1-2). Dawkins caught a two-yard pass from Justin Jenkins and broke off a 36-yard run before Jenkins snuck in for a one-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead.

Campbell
Brookfield (3-0) remains unbeaten thanks to a stellar performance stopping the Campbell (0-3) running game. The Red Devils rushed for negative 25 yards on 24 carries. The Warriors, however, rushed for 158 yards on 42 carries, with a 15-yard touchdown run by Joe Clark in the third quarter. D.J. Harrison caught four passes for 137 yards and a touchdown for Campbell.

Kimauni Johnson ran 11 yards for a tie-breaking touchdown with 56 seconds to play as the Irish (2-1) beat the Polar Bears. Ursuline drove 59 yards in eight plays. Irish quarterback Chris Durkin passed for 90 yards and ran for 78 in 19 carries.

The Panthers’ J’Vone Morton ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass. Kevone Elkins rushed for 27 yards on 16 carries and Jawuan Jones caught five passes for 65 yards for East.

Trevor McLaughlin passed for 205 yards and Dustin Martsoff ran 20 times for 100 yards including a seven-yard run to give the Beavers (2-1) a 14-0 lead at halftime.

The Rams (3-0) broke open a 3-0 game with three fourth-quarter touchdowns. Josh Goss ran for two scores and Jon Baker, who passed for 129 yards, hit Ethan Dukes on a 38-yard scoring toss. Goss finished with 70 yards rushing and Michael Eaton gained 60 yards. Dukes finished with 89 yards on four catches. Jared Shilot gained 64 yards for the Indians (1-2).

Brenton Colabella passed for 394 yards and four touchdown passes as the Crusaders (3-0) beat the Clippers (0-3). Columbiana avoided a shutout in the third quarter when Mitch Davidson threw a 37-yard TD pass to Eamon Eavers.

Jordan Sloan scored touchdowns covering 1 and 7 yards while Zack Mellott rushed for scores of 23 and 4 yards for the Tigers (3-0). For the Blue Devils (1-2), Brandon Barnes rushed 15 times for 53 yards and quarterback Josh Liberati rushed for 47 yards and passed for 45.

After Matt Morrell’s 68-yard scoring run gave McDonald a first-quarter lead, the Redskins ran off 44 consecutive points. Morrell finished with 81 rushing yards for the Blue Devils (2-1).

Colton Gudat rushed for 155 yards on 7 carries and scored on a 43-yard run for the Bears (2-1). Quarterback Trent Ferry put the game away late in the fourth with a 66-yard touchdown run. The Mustangs were led by Austin Arnold, who rushed for 112 yards and also caught a touchdown pass.

The Potters (1-2) overcame a 14-0 halftime deficit to earn their first win. John Miscuk scored from a yard out for the deciding TD. D.J. Austin also scored on a 6-yard punt return. Haedan Panezott gained 119 yards for the Quakers (1-2) who built their lead on touchdown passes of 15 yards from Trace Jenkins to Blake Hochadel and 3 yards from Matthew Weingart to Max Wolfgang.
