Poland 28, Canal Fulton Northwest 21

CANAL FULTON

Jacob Wolfe threw for two TD passes, including a 44-yarder to Tyler Evan in the fourth quarter, to help the Poland High football team rally past Northwest 28-21 on Friday. Northwest (1-1) took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter, but Poland’s Austin Wilson returned an interception 20 yards and George Chammas added an 11-yard TD reception in the second quarter to get the rally started for Poland (2-0). Bob Devito added field goals of 39 and 23 yards in the second half. T.D. Culp threw two TD passes for the Indians and Tristan Mullane ran for a 1-yard TD.

Brookfield 46, Newton Falls 6

NEWTON FALLS

Brookfield (2-0) ran two interceptions back for scores and Augustus Necastro passed for two touchdowns as part of his 172-yard passing night. The Warriors had good balance with 162 yards rushing. Falls slips to 1-1.

South Range 21, Campbell Memorial 7

NORTH LIMA

The South Range defense was dominant in their home win over Campbell, holding the Red Devils to seven first downs and 153 total yards, but more importantly, only seven points. After the Raiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead, Campbell responded with Aaron Jackson’s seven-yard run. Joe Alessi capped his night, and the Raiders’, with his second scoring run.

Champion 36, Conneaut 19

CHAMPION

The Golden Flashes outgained Conneaut on the ground, 357 yards to 14, offsetting the visitors’ 291-0 yard advantage through the air. Brandon McFarland scored three touchdowns and ran for 127 yards for Champion. Jacob Rasey also gained 127 yards, ran for a touchdown and scored when he returned a blocked punt 39 yards into the end zone.

Crestview 42, West Branch 7

BELOIT

Collin Gilbert ran for 213 yards and passed for 71 as the Rebels (2-0) broke open a 14-7 game with four straight touchdowns. Trevor Cope added 152 yards on the ground. Corey Snyder passed for 92 yards for the Warriors (0-2).

McDonald 20, Streetsboro 13

STREETSBORO

McDonald (2-0) rushed for 394 yards and scored three touchdowns to outlast Streetsboro (1-1). Cameron Ifft led the way for the Blue Devils with 138 yards on the ground with one second quarter touchdown.

Mathews 35, East Palestine 27

VIENNA

The Mustangs led 28-27 with 50 seconds left and the Bulldogs were driving, but Angelo Freed picked up an East Palestine fumble and returned it 72 yards for a game-clinching touchdown for Mathews (2-0). Evan Glancy ran for for 116 yards and two touchdowns, Cobie Pratt threw a 55-yard TD pass to Wyatt Ford and Justin Marshall added a 14-yard TD run. Austin Arnal added 93 yards rushing as the Mustangs overcame a 220-yard, three-TD performance by East Palestine quarterback Luke Cope, who ran for scores of 70, 40 and 14 yards.

Jackson-Milton 55, Rootstown 15

NORTH JACKSON

Tyler Shaffer gained 164 yards and ran for four touchdowns and Jeremy Fitzpatrick passed for 277 yards and three touchdowns for the Bluejays (1-1). Jackson-Milton rolled to a 42-0 lead at halftime.

Mineral Ridge 21, Lisbon 17

LISBON

After a 14-3 halftime lead for Mineral Ridge (2-0) disappeared, Michael Eaton ran 22 yards for the deciding touchdown with 8:52 remaining and the Rams’ defense made it stand up. Jonathan Baker (128 passing yards) threw two touchdown passes to give the Rams their lead but Josh Liberati ran for two scores in the second half to put Lisbon (1-1) ahead 17-14. Brandon Barnes gained 122 yards on the ground for the Blue Devils.

Sebring 32, Southington 13

SEBRING

Dillon Nix rushed for 163 yards on 20 carries to lead Sebring (2-0) to victory over Southington (1-1). Nix ran for three touchdowns and also returned at kickoff for a touchdown for the Trojans. Cody Dennis had the other score for Sebring.

Salem 24, United Local 21

SALEM

Caleb Quinn’s fourth-quarter field gola won the game for the Quakers (2-0). Haedan Panezott (43 yards), Trace Jenkins (4) and Narcus Crittenden (27 yards) scored their touchdowns. For the Eagles (0-2), Garrett Beech threw a 223-yard scoring pass to Braden Davison and scored on a 29-yard run, Mike Martin scored on a 33-yard run.

Warren JFK 34, LaBrae 14

LEAVITTSBURG

Michael Roscoe’s 132 yards rushing included a 62-yard touchdown in the first quarter for the Eagles (1-1). He also scored on runs covering 17 and 3 yards. Roscoe also completed 4-of-8 passes for 88 yards. One was a 38-yard scoring toss to Royal Smith. For the Vikings (1-1), Justin Jenkins completed 17 of 28 passes for 204 yards including a 13-yard scoring toss to Chris Matthews. Jamal Dawkins rushed for 73 yards on 14 carries.

Western Reserve 20, Malvern 12

MALVERN

Dan Zilke ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns and Evan Nesbit ran for a score as the Blue Devils (2-0) stayed perfect. Nesbitt ran for an 18-yard touchdown early in the second quarter and Zilke had a 4-yard TD late in the period as Western Reserve took a 13-6 halftime lead. Zilke ran 24 yards for a TD in the third quarter. Cobin Plessinger ran for TDs of 5 and 1 yards for Malvern.

Lowellville 49, Windham 12

LOWELLVILLE

Alex Harklerode, Robert Ciccone and Phil Ginnis each ran for two touchdowns and Harklerode passed for another as the Rockets crushed the Bombers to improve to 2-0. The victory was the fifth in a row for Lowellville dating back to last season, when the Rockets closed the season with three straight wins. Ciccone ran for TDs of 65 and 6 yards, Harklerode ran for scores of 5 and 1 and Ginnis’ TDs covered 4 and 12. Lowellville’s Van Vanover caught a 43-yard TD pass from Harklerode. Ciccone ran for 92 yards on seven carries and Harklerode was 4 of 5 for 60 yards. Chandler Ozanich threw TD passes of 9 yards to Parker Rickey and 30 yardss to Brady Russell for Windham (0-2).
