Fitch, Hubbard among teams ranked in AP Top 10

Austintown Fitch and Hubbard are among the six Mahoning Valley high school football teams to receive Top 10 recognition in the latest Associated Press poll of Ohio’s teams.
Poland, South Range, Western Reserve and Wellsville are the others.
In Division I, Fitch (9-0) is ranked number two, trailing only Cincinnati Colerain.
In Division III, Hubbard (9-0 is third and Poland (8-1) is seventh. In Week 8, the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs, 30-24, in overtime. Both are in the same playoff region as top-ranked Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary.
In Division VI, South Range (9-0) is ranked third. Two spots ahead of the Raiders is Kirtland and three behind them is Mogadore. All are in the same playoff region.
In Division VII, Western Reserve (9-0) is ranked second and Wellsville (8-1) is seventh. Friday, the Tigers and Blue Devils will face off in Berlin Center with the Inter Tri-County League Tier Two title on the line.
Two other teams just missed the Top 10. In Division IV, Cardinal Mooney (5-3) is ranked 12th while in Division V, Crestview is 12th.
Friday, Fitch and Mooney will battle at Youngstown State University’s Stambaugh Stadium.
