Not even a power outage could slow down Western Reserve on Friday night.
After waiting out a one hour and 20 minute delay because of no lighting, the Blue Devils handily defeated Lowellville, 36-7.
Dan Zilke ran for 91 yards and two touchdowns, Nick Allison threw for 184 yards and a TD and Danny Rosati returned a punt for a score as Western Reserve improved to 7-0 on the season.
It took only one play for the Blue Devils to get on the board.
Zilke took a handoff from Allison and went 89 yards to the end zone. The Blue Devils took an 8-0 lead when Evan Nesbitt converted the 2-point conversion.
In the second quarter, Western Reserve went up 15-0 when Danny Rosati returned a Lowellville punt 38 yards for a touchdown.
The Blue Devils then put the game away in the third quarter.
Zilke scored from one-yard out before Allison connected with Joe Falasca for an 11-yard score for a 29-0 advantage.
Lowellville’s Phil Ginnis scored the Rockets lone touchdown in the fourth quarter with a two-yard TD run. Quarterback Alex Harklerode was their leading rusher, finishing with 70 yards on 23 carries. Ginnis ran for 23 yards while Jessie Terwilliger ran for 33.
In all, the Rockets (5-2) ran for 151 yards on 48 carries. However, they only totaled 54 passing yards.
Evan Nesbitt added a six-yard TD run for Western Reserve in the fourth quarter. He finished with 38 yards on nine carries while also totaling 42 receiving yards.
The Blue Devils ran for 154 total yards on only 22 carries. Also, Allison finished 11 for 25 through the air.
