The best season in Austintown Fitch football history has resulted in more postseason accolades for the Falcons.

Fitch running back Darrin Hall and offensive lineman Chuck Zaborsky were first-team selections on the 2013 Associated Press Division I All-Ohio team, which was releaed on Monday.

Hall, a junior, ran for 1,293 yards and 11 touchdowns as Fitch went 10-0 in the regular season for the first time in school history. Zaborsky, a senior, led a Falcons offensive line that paved the way for Hall and junior quarterback Antwan Harris, who rushed 1,079 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Two Fitch defensive players were second-team All-Ohio selections.

Senior lineman Ryan Sayers had 40 tackles, including 10 solos and six tackles for losses. He also had three sacks and recovered a fumble during the regular season. Senior linebacker Sam Ortz was the Falcons’ leading tackler with 81 stops, including 33 solos, 12.5 tackles for loss, 10 Sacks, four forced fumbles, five fumble recoveries, five QB hurries and two pass breakups.

All four players had key roles as Fitch beat Marysville, 31-21, and Westerville Central, 40-24, in the playoffs. The Falcons fell to Lakewood St. Edward, 28-0, in the third round of the Division I playoffs.

Fitch’s Phil Annarella, the dean of head coaches in the Mahoning Valley, shared Division I All-Ohio Coach of rhe Year honors with Fairfield’s Jason Krause.

Annarella’s career has included stops at Warren Western Reserve, Warren Harding, Niles and Hickory (Pa.).

He led Warren Harding to a Division I state championship in 1990.
