PLAYERS OF THE WEEK || SHERRON WALLS
SHERRON WALLS
LIBERTY
PLAYER FACT: He’s just 5-foot-7, but Sherron Walls plays larger than life. He scored four times in Liberty’s 36-24 win over Bershire on Saturday. Walls ran for 199 yards bringing his total to 366 on the year. Liberty had its first win in 19 games in Week 1 against Salem and the Leopards are 2-1 for the first time since 2009.
QUOTABLE: “We just went home [after the rain on Friday] and dreamed about what we were going to do the next day. We came out hard and did what we had to do to get the win. My senior group wants to win and show leadership. Everybody thinks that we were going to be an easy team, we want to prove them wrong. ... Being a smaller guy, I know I have to go hard in the weight room. I don’t take days off and I bring that to the field.”
TYLER GROVER
AUSTINTOWN FITCH
PLAYER FACT: The Falcons are 3-0 for the second time in three seasons — a big testament to their defense. Billy Price is a rock on the line, while Tyler Grover anchors the secondary. He had a pair of interceptions that set up scores in Fitch’s 35-7 win over previously unbeaten Brunswick.
QUOTABLE: “It’s been a big thing having the start that we did. I’m just trying to go out with a bang. This year we want to follow up and be the same time that we were last year and the year before. ... Our game plan was to stop the big plays. That’s what the coaches said all week. I was in the right places to make the plays. We’re all just fast and we get to the ball and we believe in the game plan. ... This week, we’re going to try and stop them again and hopefully we’ll continue to win.”
