BOARDMAN

The Massillon Jackson High football team struck first and struck last in defeating Boardman, 38-20, on Friday night.

“We played hard, but we didn’t execute,” Boardman coach Nick D’Eramo said. “We just didn’t make enough plays to win a football game, and they did.”

Quarterback John Babos echoed his coach.

“We came out and had everything planned, but we didn’t execute,” Babos said.

Babos executed most of the Spartans’ offense, rushing for 212 yards on 26 carries. The senior also completed nine of 16 passes for 120 yards. He rushed for two touchdowns and passed for his team’s other score.

Langenfeld’s passing dominated the first half, while Dear took over and ran the ball effectively in the second half.
