Campbell scores in North victory

COLUMBUS

Devin Campbell of Boardman scored on an 88-yeard run early in the fourth quarter to lead the North to a 21-16 win over the South in the 67th Ohio North-South Classic high-school all-star football game in Ohio Stadium.

Kevin Besser of Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary threw a 21-yard TD pass to Quincy Jones of Lakewood St. Edward with 2:47 left to seal the win for the North, which won for the first time since 2009 and leads the series 39-25-3.

Tyler O’Connor of Lima Central Catholic completed 18 of 33 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns to lead the South. His TD passes went to Jalen Robinette of Bexley (10 yards) in the first quarter and Armani Miller of Huber Heights Wayne (19 yards) in the fourth quarter.

Andre Jones of Cincinnati Princeton had two interceptions for the South, while Devan Bogard of Cleveland Glenville had an interception for the North.

Campbell was joined on the North team by Jeff Clegg of Western Reserve, and Jesse Curry of Ursuline.

Andy Hake of Western Reserve was an assistant coach.

Clegg completed 3 of 6 passes for 25 yards, with a touchdown, and he was intercepted once. Clegg also scrambled for 1 yard.

Campbell finished with three carries for 91 yards, and Curry rushed four times for 19 yards.

Anthony Melchiori of Aurora was named the Game MVP. D.J. Jones of Ravenna was the North Offensive MVP and Greg McMullen of Akron Hoban was the North Defensive MVP.

MVPs for the South team were Warren Ball (offense) of Columbus DeSales, and Andre Jones (defense) of Cincinnati Princeton.
