Cusick celebrates his 100th victory

COLUMBIANA

Crestview High football coach Paul Cusick picked up his 100th victory as his Rebels beat Beaver Local, 43-22, onFriday night.

Adam Coppock and Nick Blower both scored twice for Crestview, while Beaver Local’s Dan Lattanzio had 12 carries for 129 yards.

Western Reserve 26, Independence 14

INDEPENDENCE

Don Bolton rushed 10 times for 200 yards and three touchdowns for the Blue Devils (2-0). Bolton scored on runs of 51, 20 and 5 yards.

Quarterback Jeff Clegg rushed 12 times for 83 yards.

McDonald 32, Oberlin 27

OBERLIN

Randy Walters rushed for 54 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns, and his fourth-quarter TD sealed the victory over Oberlin.

McDonald (1-1) was outgained 378-267, but forced four Oberlin turnovers.

Christian Rusinowski threw for one touchdown and rushed for a second.

Austin Bucan and Stphen Vidman also found the end zone.

East Palestine 40, Wellsville 13

EAST PALESTINE

Lucas Cope scored three touchdowns on runs covering 4, 42 and 12 yards for the Bulldogs (1-1).

Jake DeCello rushed for touchdowns covering 50 and 12 yards and caught a 19-yard scoring pass from Cope.

Derek Smith rushed 16 times for 165 yards.

For the Tigers (0-2), Marcus Moxley returned an interception 63 yards for a score and Jordan Sloan caught a 13-yard touchdown pass from Jake Reed.

Brendan Carr rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries.

Rootstown 26, Jackson-Milton 0

NORTH JACKSON

Jackson-Milton suffered its first loss of the season in its home opener.

The Bluejays were held to 195 total yards, all on the ground. Jackson-Milton was 0 for 2 passing.

Danny Lashley led Rootstown with three touchdown runs of 25, 44 and 54 yards.

The Rovers gained 346 yards rushing.

Columbiana 35, Leetonia 14

Leetonia

Austin Barbato led the Clippers to their second victory of the season with three rushing touchdowns on 12 attempts. Barbato ended the night with 60 yards on the ground.

Barbato started the Clippers (2-0) off early on a 32 yard run with 9:56 left in the first. Barbato scored again in the second and in the third, both from 1 yard out. Branch Hacker also added two touchdowns for Columbiana.

Leetonia’s Cody Stokes was involved in both touchdowns, hitting RJ Pacella from 23 yards out, and running one in from 5 yards out.

The Bears drop to 1-1 on the season.

Sebring 30, Southington 0

SEBRING

Josh Hurford threw touchdown passes to Corey Baia (40 yards) and two to T. Hubbs covering 20 and 3 yards for the Trojans (1-1).

Kyle Reynolds led Southington (0-2) with 47 yards rushing on 11 carries.

Malvern 46, Lowellville 0

LOWELLVILLE

Malvern quarterback Shawn Ball passed for 311 yards and five touchdowns for Malvern.

Ball completed 11 of 21 tosses.

Max Kapron caught scoring passes of 51 and 46 yards. He had six receptions for 127 yards.

Travis Tucci caught six passes for 87 yards, including scores of 19 and 25 yards.

Southern 30, Lisbon 27

LISBON

Zack Puckett scored three times and gained 26-192 yards on 26 carries for Southern, which out-gained Lisbon, 326-157.

Lisbon fell to 0-2.
