The Brookfield High football team was no match for Norwayne, falling 42-7 on Saturday in the Division IV Region 13 playoffs.

The Bobcats (10-1) took control from the start in building a 14-0 halftime lead and put the game away with three more touchdowns in the third quarter.

Norwayne senior quarterback Adam Wallace continued his record-breaking fall by passing for 274 yards and three touchdowns, while adding a TD run.

“They were faster than I thought they’d be, they have a great quarterback, and really a great overall team,” said seventh-year Brookfield coach Randy Clark, who led the Warriors to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years and just the third time in school history. “I thought we were gonna able to run the ball a little bit more, but when we got down 14 points it kind of took us out of our running game.

“I didn’t realize from watching film that their receivers were that good. They made some great catches in the first half — when we could have stopped their drives, but they turned them into touchdowns.”

Norwayne coach Joe Harbour said, “Adam did a great job, especially because they were blitzing so much. He moved, he scrambled, rolled out and did a real good job keeping his eyes downfield.

“That’s a great job by an experienced quarterback.”

Not only did Norwayne light up the scoreboard, its defense limited Brookfield (9-2) to just 29 rushes for 83 yards. The Warriors came into the game churning out 301 yards per contest behind an offensive line that averaged more than 270 pounds from tackle to tackle.

Brookfield finally got on the board when junior Ryan Mosora scored on a 3-yard run with 3:43 left in the period, making a 360-spin move to get past a defender after receiving an option pitch. Mosora set up his own score after catching a 65-yard pass from classmate Jeremy Quinlan.
