Mooney ‘Camp of Champions’ is set

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini will headline the annual “Camp of Champions,” which runs June 27-28 at Cardinal Mooney High School.

Chaney High graduate Michael Zordich, a former NFL player who is now the safeties coach for the Philadelphia Eagles, will also speak, as will former Ohio State quarterback and ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit, Florida State defensive coordinator Mark Stoops and Nebraska offensive coordinator Tim Beck.

Pelini, Stoops and Beck are Mooney graduates.

The camp takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is open to those entering grades 4-9. More than 350 campers participated in last year’s event.

Don Beebe’s House of Speed will hold an athletic combine from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 on June 28, allowing athletes to compete in speed drills such the 40-yard dash along with other agility, power and quickness drills.
