Junior running back De’Veon Smith carried 11 times for 137 yards and three TDs as the Howland High football team rolled past Ashtabula Lakeside 33-0 on Thursday night.

Brendan Cope completed 6 of 10 passes for 76 yards, including a 25-yard TD pass to Matt Hayes, for the Tigers. Eric Lockney added a 1-yard TD run.

Brendan Hester rushed 26 times for 74 yards to lead Lakeside. He also completed 6 of 15 passes for 72 yards.

Southeast 50, Newton Falls 0

NEWTON FALLS

Tylor Brokow rushed 18 times for 170 yards and a touchdown Southeast’s defense shut down Newton Falls’ running game en route to the victory.

Bryan Lavigna added 67 yards rushing and a TD, Brandon Olson had 50 yards and a TD and Noah Kainrad had 42 yards and two TDs for the Pirates, who rolled up 452 yards on the ground.

Southeast also held the Tigers to minus-8 yards rushing and 61 yards total.

Matt Brazin completed 6 of 12 passes for 50 yards and two interceptions for the Tigers, while Cody Dillon caught three passes for 25 yards.
