CANFIELD
Defense helped Canfield get past Chaney as the Cardinals held the Cowboys to -9 yards rushing, and had two safeties on the night to earn an 18-6 victory.
Chaney halfback George Leflore got the Cowboys on the board with a two yard run early in the first. Leflore finished the night with 37 yards on 14 carries. It was all Canfield after that however.
Canfield’s Jon Rogers scored from a yard out in the second quarter, and the extra point gave Canfield the lead. A miscue by Chaney by snapping the ball out of the end zone in the third made it 9-6 Cards. Quarterback Mike Hughes scored on a 10 yard run for Canfield (2-3) early in the fourth quarter. Hughes finished 4-for-10 for 52 yards. Rogers would later tackle Chaney running back Stephen Shackleford in the end zone making it 18-6 Canfield.
Howland 48, Carrick 0
Howland
De’Veon Smith had 127 of Howland’s 258 rushing yards and three of the Tigers seven touchdowns to remain in the unbeaten column. Smith scored from 4, 5, and 22 yards out respectively.
Quarterback Tim Parana completed 7 of 8 passes on the night for 81 yards and also scored on a 37 yard run for the Tigers (5-0). Brandon Miller scored twice, one from 12 yards out and the other from 8 yards. Tyler Drass finished the Howland scoring on a one yard run.
Howland’s defense held the Raiders to just 84 yards, all on the ground.
Salem 33, Liberty 20
LIBERTY
Trent Toothman ran for 84 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 103 yards and a score for Salem (4-1, 1-1 AAC White), which rebounded from a loss to Hubbard.
Austin Noel added 65 yards on 12 carries for the Quarters, who led by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.
East Liverpool 28, Struthers 21, 2 OT
STRUTHERS
It took six quarters for the Potters to walk away with their fourth win of the season in a double-overtime thriller that featured 49 points.
Receiver Kyle Mackey caught four passes for 59 yards, and two were for scores. His second touchdown catch won the game. Quarterback Marky Thomkins threw another TD pass, and had 197 yards through the air.
Tommy Kimbro had 85 passing yards and one touchdown, and 137 rushing yards for the Wildcats (2-3).
